So im sitting in the car after a long commute home from work, and I think to myself, Id probably be ruining part of what makes this car so great by pulling the smooth and quiet I6 out in favour for a rattly D5.

Sure the economy of the D5 is something to envy, but the enjoyment of having the big smooth 6 is something I'd most definitely miss.

Ive got a few 98 T6 blocks that ive already stripped down to the short blocks, I need to have a snapped head bolt removed but I think Ill build this car into a super sleeper S90 T6.

A set of rods, HX40 and a set of Deka injectors courtesy of @Samman88 and I think this would be the ultimate comfort cruiser with 300 ~ 400kw at the wheels.

The issue then becomes the longevity of the auto, the supra guys believe 350rwkw is the most for safe operation on these boxes and I think that will be tons considering she's a big boaty executive sedan.

Gotta say I like this much better as an option Julian. Having driven a 960 (close enough) I loved the engine and thought it was part of what made the car such as good package. D5? I really had to wonder why but it was none of my business. Apart from the horror story that was mine, they just aren't that nice of a motor.

I think so too, Im currently doing 160km total a day for work, so the allure of a diesel was very tempting. Also the challenge of making it work

Considering you would not be torque limited on the d5 motor with the 30-40 like you are with the fwd 6 speed setup... the d5 can be tuned for max power which is near enough 200kw+

Volvo detunned the heck out of it to keep it around 400nm max...

My personal vote is for the d5

Should be able to hit 7L/100 or better using it

That said... Considering the price of second hand BMW e60 530d... go test drive one before you commit to spending about the same...

I've driven the V8 E60s, not too bad

No Julian I traded it to Berry a year ago. They engine swapped it and sold it. I live near Chaddy but have never seen it.

It just got all too hard because noone could get it to run right and in the end I had more than one opinion that it needed to be opened up and wasn't worth the cost.

Currently rocking a gen 5 Liberty, which I really like. Still have the V40 we bought from John and when he remembers my son brings it in for service.

Small development, my Brembos and 330mm disks fit the S90.

All that's needed is 25mm of spacers and some Tethys :D

Rear pads are getting a bit low, might get some A1RMs for them.

    This is relevant to my interests.

    What are the calipers from? What rotors?

      The only way the auto's survive is with the valve body being modified by MV automatics.

        The 30-40 is much better than the 304 box because of the electronic line pressure control

        Run full line pressure all the time and combine with accum enhancement (threaded rod) and nothing else than fresh steels and friction and fluid is required to hold 300kw long term

          The SC-816 died suddenly one day, pooped in an SC-815 and got sick of the absolute garbage audio quality very quickly.

          Pillaged the Alpine 178BT headunit from the 240 and picked up a set of JL series 3s in the 6.5 inch for the front, and a set of series 2s for the rear doors in 6.5 also.

          Decided to see how factory I could make it look, ran new wiring through the factory grommets and sleeve for that stealth audio look.

          Wondered how Id get the new wiring through, went with a method Id seen some of the commercial sparkies use - Cable lube!

          Soldered both strands to the end of the old speaker wire, lubed it up with detergent and pulled it through!

          Perfect fit, just needed to open up the door card a bit to clear the bigger woofer surround.

          Dropped the tweeters straight into the hollowed out original units, Dremels help!

          As much as I would have loved to keep the stock headunit, there was no way I was going to be able to get any kind of quality sound out of it.

          Tethys and Brembos are on!

          A little poke, nothing a bit of camber wont help.

          Very subtle, but they are there hiding behind the Tethys.

          And a bit cleaner

          Ive got a JL RD900/5 and a Kicker VL712 to go in, Then some work on building a manifold for the HX40 <3

          JL are a great brand. Their 8" subwoofers are incredible, though so is the price tag.

          Ive got a bick JL woofer box here ill never use,a 12 inch in it iirc

          I love JL amps? Have a couple and a Kicker amp for sub , I collectedall this for the aborted v70r project.

          Might get some info regarding the kicker sub and box :O
