  • I pulled the knob apart and see where the wires are supposed to go but they are not long enough to connect when the knob is off the stick. Doesn't look like they were soldered on.
    Way too many innuendo's here.
  • I've searched here and elsewhere but can't find any info - probably user error.
I have an '85 240 with the 4 speed OD - recently the gear knob became loose and then came off in my hand. The OD wires have been disconnected from the switch in the knob and I have no idea how to reconnect them? The OD was working before the wires came off.
Also, when putting the knob back on, what's the recommended way of securing it? Some sort of silicone sealer?
    Thanks,

    Matt
  • I just got my first Volvo - '85 240 manual wagon with 260k.
I've done some searching here but still have a few questions.
The OD dash light doesn't work - are there common reasons and any simple fixes for this?
The clock also doesn't work - do I need to pull the dash off to get to it and try and repair it?

    Now the can of worms:

Fuel - I was told to use 95. I have several motorbikes and have gone back to using straight "unethanoled" 91 with no change in performance and no pinging. Thoughts?

Injector cleaner: snake oil or worth it? The car hasn't been used much recently and on the drive from western Victoria to Melbourne it seemed fine to me, but it's my first drive in a 230e.

    Cheers,

    Matt
  • @carnut222 - how much has the 240 wagon been lowered?
  • Thanks @carnut222, the pic with the black ones is exact;y what I'm looking for.
  • vo940;c-145389 wroteThe ones on eBay seem to be a reasonable price if the tyres are good and have all the centre caps. Also another type of Volvo wheel is the multi x which are 15x7 and look great on 240s
Tyres need replacing as per the ad.
  • Thanks for the welcome and the helpful advice - I do live in the inner west and I also ride a Ducati so I'm used to feeling every grain of asphalt. :p
@vo940 - thanks for the link to those wheels. Do you think they are they the same as on the yellow 2 door Levi posted. I would paint them black (or dark gunmetal) as well.
  • Just picked up my first Volvo and already looking to change things! A sign of things to come probably.
It's an '85 240 wagon and I'm initially looking for some new wheels - not 100% about what size I want so I'm open to suggestions. If anyone has some pics of their setups I'd love to see them.
What have you got stashed away in the back of the garage?
    Cheers,
    Matt
