Have seen blue badge 99s though.
egads (she/her)
Yup. I used to own one. They have 4 speeds.

I'm looking at doing the tranny flush, rear diff and angle gear fluid chard while I'm back this break, gonna go with the drain and refill method with the tranny as to not dislodge anything suddenly. Gonna be using Penrith semi synthetic atf.
Question though can I only get the angle gear oil from volvo? Or can I use a Castro gear oil?
@bigal enjoyed reading the XC90 thread
Also just pulled out the washer bottle to replace the rear washer pump, was a pita to do for such a little thing, cleaned the strainer for the wash bottle at the same time.
timbo
Angle gear and diff probably wont have drain plugs so you will need a way to either suck it out through the filler plugs or drill your own.
Any synthetic gl5 oil is suitable.
Ex850R
Any diy on drilling drain holes? Where etc?
timbo
Ask and ye shall recieve

Also rear diff may have a drain plug i think its the p2 onwards that don't actually have one
Ex850R
Nice one Tim!
bigal
Have you had the pcv system replaced yet or still on the original?
gavinh
Still on original, cleaned it a few years ago and replaced the pipe work. The rest of the hard ware I need will probably have to wait till the start of July before i can do anything as the missus wants to go away next break.

So today ended up busy, drained and refilled the auto box, the atf was almost brown and didn't smell too burnt. The angle gear managed to syphon/pull out about 600ml of oil, by god that was burnt and black.
Done the rear diff that had seen better days.
Also in the order from fcp I got a tail gate repair kit. Well after trying to remove the panel with out snapping the handle surround it was surprisingly easy to fit and made a huge difference for somthing that was about $10.
Finally got round to replacing two very annoying rusted bolts that held the rear no plate on with two domed headed stainless Allen key bolts after 4 years of ownership.
One thing I did notice was when I was under the front end the pipe coming from the intercooler to the turbo looks like it's been seeping oil, why would this be happening? Is it a sign the bearings/seals are on the way out?
Cheers Gav
Ex850R
Oil condenses in the intercooler, it's common in higher K cars like ours, never seen a dry pipe on any P80 I have had.
If it's weeping the hose is shot. Others will be soft too.
Replace the lot maybe silicon ones?
Do a rip kit maybe?
Go big ebay intercooler and go bigger hoses?
Your intercooler may do with a clean out, degrease too.
Give your IACV may be sticky from the oil too, diesel gets it going after a soak.
Maybe budget for a turbo rebuild down the line.

@Ex850R, cool man will give it a look while am up north next week, I was surprised how much a difference all the work I have done has changed the car.
Ex850R
Replacing bushes and mounts that seem OK shows how worn they really are, same with hoses.
Making it all new again makes it work and drive..... like new!
Good fun too.

So was on rock auto looking at stuff as you do and found this, any one bought it and if so any good as it is so much cheaper than fcp etc etc
The uro spec pcv kit

In running the Uro kit presently, seems fine

You could do copper piping from the box.
@Rob has done properly. I did with some copper and made it larger diameter to the intake heat element bit. Wrap it in heat tape stuff maybe.
Ex850R
If you just get all the hoses and clean out the oil trap with diesel you save. Go bigger hose.
Rob
The box itself is often ok after a cleanout but the plastic pipework is not. It is usually brittle and falls apart.
Replacing it with genuine or its equivalent will probably last you another 10 years, maybe more.
Replacing it with something better will last longer.
gavinh
@Ex850R, that's what I did the last time, replaced the hose etc, but thinking of biting the bullet this time @Rob did you just use enieled copper for the pipe work?
