Rob
I used some steel hydraulic tubing and some ORTAC hose for the bendy bits.
gavinh
That should be easy enough to fine, double walled air hose
Rob
Just make sure you use something that is oil and heat resistant.

Cheers

Gav, what is your average real life L/100km on this v70xc?
gavinh
I think it varies between 10.8 - 11.2 around the city

Who/were is the best places to get hoses for the cooling and turbo, doing a Web search only see to be the states or China bay. Working nights so missed berry's, also wanting some individual gaskets for pcv maintenance, again 40-50 dollars a pop form eBay, debating to get my own gasket paper/card and make it?
bigal
I like fcpeuro.com
They're quick.
bigal
My first small order from ipd the other day was equally as quick as fcp.
gavinh
Yeah I have used both, prefer fcp for ome, but Ipd are good for performance upgrades
Ex850R
Fcp have lifetime replacement no questions.
Even oil filters.....

Been a while since an update.
Still no pics though, went to Mark at berry's and got all the hoses for the cooling system and the turbo cooling lines, inlet and throttle body gasket.
Was glad I did this, the radiator hose under the dizzy was blown out and weeping along with the header tank one.
Bought 5m of silicon 4mm hose, 2m of 16mm and set about replacing all the vacuum hoses as the deeper I dug the worse the hoses were becoming, Ended up replacing about 90% of them.
Cleaned up the throttle body, icv and the one attached to the air intake beside the turbo.
While I was in the area I done the pcv, cleaned out the breather box, flushed the hose going to the valve cover with carbie cleaner and soaked it in degreaser, replaced the main hose with a copper pipe, reusing the original elbows and joining it together with oil/heat resistant hose, and replaced the smaller vacuum hose going to the end of the inlet manifold.
Was able to chase a front CV for the AWD, new from the UK $140 delivered to the door, same as the Colorado drive shaft one. So set about replacing that, while I was at it cleaned and repacked the rear one and tightened the hex heads to 30Nm, that was a bitch to do, glad I double checked everything I left 1 bolt loose.
While I was going through thinks, I noticed the top rear engine mount rubber was fractured. I was able to source one from supercheap, so replaced that and got the lower (transmission) mount bushes while I was there, total cost there was about $85 for the super pro's, will have to source a rear mount that attaches to the bulk head as that's looking worse for wear as well.
Gave it a service too and rotated the tyres front to back. Does anyone cross rotate the tyres? as I have read conflicting arguments on this.
While I was messing around on the car I pulled out the centre console to do tighten up the hand brake, which I now know you don't have to do. Any way badly cracked at already cracked veneer, so ended up removing all the veneer cleaning up the plastic and spraying it matt black and clear coating it. Came up really nice, tempted to sand back to other veneer and do the same possible in an aluminum colour.
Cheers the now

Larger tyres always at the front so rears spin faster

Giving you awd all the time? This is good!
Ex850R
Gav, I used vinyl wrap on glove box trim, chipped off the plastic wood. On another I used paint, hammered finish machine green!
Did, hammered paint, dark grey on centre stack lower and will wrap the upper in sparkle black vinyl. Multicolour interior!
Which driveshaft for the awd? I need CV boot on drivers side for the R so may as well do whole shaft as I don't know what it's like, never driven the car yet?!
gavinh
@Ex850R I got it from drivelineheltd, in the uk
Was here in just over a week, not to sure if it would be cheaper to buy drive shafts from over sea's? I have tried to chase up these veneered parts and they are bloody expencive, unless you can get a good one second hand.
The missus now wants a gromm for the stereo, so will be shopping around for one of them in the near future, and probably get the rest of the mounts and suspension stuff from ash when I get my tax back.
gavinh
So now that I'm back on site(work) about 2000km from the house, got a call from the missus saying the car won't start and there is a funny slapping noise coming from the cam belt area:'(. Gonna have a mechanic friend look at it over the weekend before I have a prognosis, or if there happens to be any Volvo nut in baldivis WA that can cast a eye on it. Gonna try getting it put on a flat bed and dropped at the house until I get back.

Bloody Volvos!
