@rado you don't happen to know what part that fob is do you? Also, doesn't that mean anyone with a fob could unlock my car?

Not too sure but can look when i get home if you like .

Not too sure about other fobs working but on a side note I'm sure there are not too many other 850s rolling around for others to get into .

Is your curcuit board naked or in a box ? Hard to see picture on phone . Mine is naked .

A fob has to be programmed to match the car. i.e No other fobs will open your car.

If you ever need to know how to do it check out this dudes video!

I have a few genuine key fobs, I'll see if I can find them.

Work on the dash is just about done. I got rid of all this old perished foam:

and installed new foam. This is a Bunnings product. It has excellent adhesive on the back of the foam

Left some messages for the next guy. One of the four mounts was totally exploded so I decided just to leave it. The other three seem pretty robust now, I gave them a few shoves to see if the plastic would crack more and it didn't. The glue is one of those thick adhesive filler products just to take up all the little clearances around the plastic.

I also repaired the hinge points for the glove box, as they were also shattered, and the mount points for the driver kick panel, as they were also shattered. Pretty much everything in this dash is some variety of shattered, and I am not the first person to come in here repairing things.

Omg it doesn't even wobble anymore

Hello gents, if anyone still has any spare keys fobs then please let me know - I’d be keen. For a 1996 850R - thanks 👍

Pretty close to done now. I took my time with the install, and I cleaned up and re-blacked the plastic valance that goes over the wiper motor while I had it out. I also used the opportunity to work out the extent to which my original sound system wiring had been butchered, and it's not great, but I think if I want to repair it I can just replace the sub-harness to the amp.

All that's left really is the dash pad itself.

Great work on the dash so far and sounds good that you have no movement anymore , food for thought. How's the plastic trim looking between where the dash pad go's and the windscreen ? I've been thinking of making something out of thin wood and slotting it for the vents as mine is shot .

What did you use to re-blacken the plastics ?

All done, car is amazing, no more rattles from the dash! I have one final rattle to chase down somewhere at the back (not the tailgate, I think it's in the roof) but otherwise it's silent. I also cleaned up some of the loom tape and a few other bits and pieces while I had the chance.

@rado that piece had cracked in the past and was already glued together so I wasn't able to do any more work on it. Wood would be nice but it's a fairly thin strip. I used Turtle trim restorer.
