Anthony IIRC, only one of the 2 OE hoses is still available from The Usual Suspects. LHD and RHD use different ones.
With my 940s, I ended up using Triden hoses from Supercheap Auto so I could fit a proper 4-port heater tap. That way, when I engage the 'recirculate' function, I'm not cutting off the coolant line between the back of the head and the water pump.
The idiotic factory setup for the heater tap uses a 2-port vacuum-operated tap that cuts off coolant flow between the water pump and the rear of the head when 'recirculate' is chosen in the cabin. That's a certain way to cook an engine in the temperatures we are not now getting, even here in TAS.
When 'recirc' is engaged in my car, the coolant bypasses the heater core and flows from the back of the head to the pump. Also - in case of a heater core failure, I can engage recirc and avoid a flood of coolant in the cabin.
I got a set of heater hoses for my 940 from Berry's. That was a couple of years ago though.
Major Ledfoot do you recall whih hose codes you used? I've purchased a 4 port valve to do the same thing.
Roinik Sorry, I can't remember the exact hoses. IIRC, they were very long Commodore VT hoses, and I chopped them up to get the lengths I needed. The hose that connects to the LH side of the head needs to have a 'U' shape, since it needs to come over to the RH side of the engine.
I gave up trying to find new ones, ended up rummaging through the hose cabinet at Autobarn with the old ones in hand and finding similar
Mackay still do new ones?
I bought a set last year.
Found the leak -in the external heater control valve - in the seam of the plastic body.
Lasted 31 years so thats impressive.
ipd in USA has them in stock. Pic attached.
Also pic attached of original hoses part No. (useless as NLA but good to see).
The red metal heater tube is the same part from 240 onwards. The long hose, yes potential to shorten at ends and keep using.
Thanks for everyones feedback.
Yep, that's the evil, engine-killing, single port heater tap. It cuts off coolant flow when 'recirculate' is engaged.
