As the title says I’m after a seatbelt reminder relay (1362268) for my new ‘94 940 wagon. I noticed the car was oddly quiet when the doors were opened so I had a look at the relays behind the fuse box and saw it was indeed missing. I’d like to find a replacement so if you’re pulling your hair out from your relay, or have a spare lying around then let me know!

Sydney940 The OZ market cars weren't equipped with the 1362268 chiming relay.

They wee fitted to US market cars only AFAIK, as my 780 has one, as did the 1990 760 Turbo I had when I lived in the US.

I've owned four 940s in OZ (a 1991, two 1993s, and a 1994) and none have had that blue chiming relay.

Major Ledfoot Ah okay, understood. I just thought that it was missing as I have distinct memories of my grandfathers C70 and my mothers S70 having the same sounding door chime as what I saw in a video of a (American) guy working on a 940.

Wow, I didn’t know anybody even owned a 780 in Australia! Surely that’s one of if not the ONLY one?

ramrod Yes, Sydney based. See my reply to Major Ledfoot as to why I thought it had that relay.

Suppose I did want to track down one of those seatbelt reminder modules though, would my best bet be ordering one from the States or through Skandix? Is there anywhere else I could look?

There's two - John Johnson's, and mine. Johnno's is on club rego and can't be driven at night because US RHT headlights; mine's on full rego, and can (because LHT Japan market headlights). Johnno's 780 is often used in OZ movies pretending to be in America.

Can't comment about what C70 or S70 had, since I've never owned any.

I used to have 2 940s (only 1 now) and one of those was a 94 sedan. The seat belt reminder relay is the same as the indicator flasher relay and only works on the driver's seat. To confirm have a look at the middle row of relays behind the fuses, 3rd relay from the left is the flasher/seat belt reminder.

If your seat belt reminder isn't working (but your indicators do) check under the driver's seat for a disconnected electrical plug (4 pin I think). It's possible someone unplugged the seat belt catch because the relay wouldn't stop clicking even with the seat belt done up. That happened to my car. The only way to fix it is to replace the seat belt catch on the side of the seat.

Brad Ah okay thanks for the advice. I’ll have a gander when I’m home and see if the connector you’re taking about is disconnected

@Brad So I had a look under the seat and the four pin connector is connected, and yet there is no seatbelt warning chime. Pretty confused because I definitely have blinkers. Not really sure where to go now hahaha

Hmm. Looks like 1994 940s are wired differently to the 91 940. I was going by the 91 wiring diagram book that I have. I've got a pdf copy of the 1994 940 wiring diagram but I can't upload it here as the file size is too large.

@jamesinc the file is just over 27MB. Could it be uploaded to the tech archive?

Ayup - found that out when I was getting a door from a 94 to put on a 91 - the wiring colour code is totally different.

IIRC, the steering wheel clock spring is also different.
