morch_66479 the standard 850 wiper dosn't like the Australian heat and as they get older twist out of shape and don't wipe the screen with full contact on the drivers side to the point its dangerous in storms trying to see and pass rego checks.
The factory wiring diagram will show where to plug and play the alarm.

This makes sense and maybe this is why my passenger arm is nearly touching the bonnet. Maybe i should upgrade to the V70 arms.

I tried looking at the diagram but still none the wiser. I understand the green plug goes into the relay but the 2 pin plug might make more sense when I go to install.

I was chatting to you on Messenger about your spare amp, I've since managed to get my hands on one: 1384848 - 4x50w.
My GROM system has allowed for Bluetooth connectivity and is also able to connect my old iPod to the radio too.

Soon i should have the audio, alarm system & headlight wiper conversion completed - as you've already mentioned its super handy having all the wiring tee ready to plug and play 🙂

I'm in two minds on the washer wipers on the headlights . When I had the car respray I had both sets painted , I like the look with them but prefer the smooth look without . One of the motors needs a rebuild so I've stuck to without .

Bit of a late reply to the headlights wipers lol

Hey Stewart I see you're running a different Volvo fob to mine , I bought that type but didn't work this is the type mine has

      Image description

As far as I know there's a couple of different types , my car had an Australian after market central locking module unit plugged into the harness behind the glove box , but ever since I had the car it kept flattening the fob batteries within 24-48hrs and had very poor range, about 2 metres

        Hit n miss with my fob , sometimes around 6 metres sometimes 2 metres , Volvo's 😆

rado have you still got the fob like @242GT? If you do and it's for sale then I'll take it. (it's a Volvo Gaurd 2 type remote fob)

I already have central locking like yours (this is known as the Basic Alarm) & I'm just changing to the VGA2

Very pleased with the end result of the genuine parts I installed, took a while to collect all the bits a pieces but tested all the sensors and the all work.

Not sure, I think I sold it on here but will have a look 👍

            Found it

Luckily still in the keys boul lol

            LMK if you want it

rado likewise… closer to the receiver behind the glovebox the better.

I recently had trouble programming my 2nd fob but finally found out the issue was I needed to rpgram both at same time

rado I had an issue with one of my motors. Wouldn't move so had to pull apart and shave a little off a plastic part inside. Works a treat now.

Here's my kit ready for install:

            AUDIO Continued:

Dynaudio speakers pulled from the rear of a C70, basically a plug and play set after i swapped over the terminals to the old housing as the connectors are different.

Ps: Managed to get the 4x40 Volvo amplifier which is on the way from Ireland as we speak.

            TAKE ME HOME Lights

From reading online, it turns out that if you install a later style relay from the 70 series Volvo's it gives us 850 owners access to the 'take me home feature'. Once the car is turned off and keys removed form the ignition we just simply need to flash the high beams and then the low beam will be activated for approx 30s.

Nice feature to have, simple plug and play.

Original relay is green, new relay is grey:

I can't remember the last time I drove inthe dark but I do like the idea of that option so I've just bought that relay 👍

Where abouts did you buy the relay from Steve

              • rado replied to this.

I grabbed mine from a c70 but unsure of year.

I think the key is to make sure it's grey and comes from a car that runs fog lights.

Or just find one online with the part number in my pic above. Nice feature so hope it works on both your cars

                BUSHING INSERTS:

Open to criticism here but decided to 3D print subframe inserts. Nice way to test how the car feels instead of paying the crazy postage fee from IPD.

If they fail then it was worth a shot.

Started printing one set and wasn't happy with the infill so increased it to 40%

I'll be sure to use lots of lubricant when installing which help them last that bit longer.
