  • Looking for a good mechanic in Perth! Frank O’Grady’s has shut ☹️

Hey fellow Volvo lovers,

I have a 2004 Volvo XC90 in need of a service, and I just found out that Frank O’Grady Automotives has shut down, to my utter dismay. Does anyone know of a specialist Volvo mechanic around the Perth Area? Or does anyone know if Adam Plester from Frank O’Grady’s is still working out of a different place?

Am also moving to Melbourne very soon and would appreciate it if someone knew of a specialist - but affordable - mechanic in Melbourne as well..

Thanks in advance.

Ex850R thanks a lot for this. Will make sure to keep their contact details!

Now I just need to find someone in Perth to have a look at it beforehand.

Alan Stoker Automotives in Malaga is supposed to be pretty good, not sure how he goes with newer Volvos but I know he is quite knowledgeable with older ones.

Volvo in Osborne Park aren't supposed to be too bad but probably not as cheap as some of the other smaller shops that are around.

Have heard mixed reviews about Eurotech Autohaus in Bayswater, my manager had his BMW door locks replaced there and it was fine and some Volvo people swear by them, but other Volvo people have had some issues - botched clutch replacement, damaged interior when doing another job.

Andy (Polestar Technic) was pretty good but I think he has returned to working FIFO rather than continuing that business.

      Hope that helps 🙂

pieboyfresh Thanks so much for this. 😊 I’ve contacted Alan Stoker Automotives. Really appreciate your help!

Hi aud. Berry's are the GOTO in melb for Volvo related problems, are always very busy so book ahead. If you are in the western suburbs of melb than I can happily recommend FERORO motors hoppers crossing phone0397492160. The have a great young mechanic Miguel who is Honda trained, has not been faised by any tasks on my v70t6 or xcv8. Plug change on v8 no probs.lol Has access to volvo specific tech info. Have great faith in them .

Highly recommend John and Mark at Voldat in Moorabbin for servicing in Melbourne. Had all my Volvos serviced with them for over 20 years and always happy with their friendliness, knowledge and real professionalism. Was also always surprised how reasonable their prices were too - never needed to ask for quotes. Miss them now I’m out of Melbourne.
