carnut222 What's the silver canister with the hose attached? I assume some sort of A/C flushing kit? On a separate note, is it legal to buy R134A to fill your own system? Guess it might depend on state.
I don't charge the system myself, I use Mitrics down in West Ryde, Marty there has always been very understanding of my constant HVAC tinkering and will lend me the odd tool or give free advice (i.e. I called him this morning to check where the ideal spots to splice in charge ports would be).
The silver canister is just a device that injects fluid at pressure using an air compressor to drive it. It has a conical rubber nozzle that you just jam into an open fitting. It moves fluid at a truly impressive rate, it can empty the canister (about 1L) in about 10 seconds, the nozzle has a diameter of maybe 3mm. I found it on Amazon, it's called an Air Conditioning Flush Kit. One thing to note is that it's setup for SAE fittings and the (common elsewhere but uncommon in Australia) "Industrial" air hose fitting system, to connect it to my Nitto system compressor I had to remove and drill out the fitting and tap it for 1/4" BSP.
