When ford took over in 2000 the need to produce replacement parts that last > 20 years was no longer a priority, their needs changed and shortcuts were taken in cutting manufacturing costs and that's why majority of parts are no longer made in Sweden.
This goes for anything being manufactured at present, the cost is too much especially for old cars which don't have as much of a demand to be kept running, people don't buy them so why should the manufacturers produce? Rubber hoses, rubber strut mounts, ball joints, suspension bushings, water pumps etc simply aren't being made to the standard which they intended back in the 70s
