Spotted at Classics the other week
shadycourgetteTheres a yellow T-5R wagon here that I know of, I think Tristan’s sedan went east when he sold it.
I think mine was from QLD originally. Would be good to find out it’s history - a mechanic here refuses to work on it as they thought it was ‘heavily modified’ once upon a time. I do know it was crashed pretty bad, had some severe wheel rub on one side and it turned out the K frame was bent.
I think I've been to the same garage couple years ago, he refused to work on parts of my car due to it being modified ?
Mid-paint correction, all the cloudiness on the rear door panel has been removed and it is looking amazing ? Should be picking it up in the next couple of days.
Does anyone know where I can find 10mm spacers in Aus? Ideally don’t want to buy OS and have to wait ages.
Looking good!
If you buy from FCP EURO good chance they come in a week.

So I'm intrigued, called dumb lol . What is paint protection, ceramic coating ? What's involved ?
I've just had mine ant the tt painted recently so wondering if I should get both cars treated..
10mm spacers for the rears ?
Hopefully bump into you at some point at a WAVE meeting ?
Paint correction, pretty self explanatory. I don’t know the fine details but it would involve cutting and polishing to remove flat spots, imperfections etc. A ceramic coat protects the paint from the elements, stops it from deteriorating. It’s also heaps easier to clean, and with a black car I ain’t complaining!!
Yeah for the rears, have you done yours? I’ve rolled the guards so may even be able to go 15 or 20 if I remove a bit of the plastic guard.
Paul sent me some photos after he’d finished. He said it was pretty tricky as the respray was not the best but I think it’s come up pretty good.
Ceramic polymer. It's even used in the drive through car wash I go to , dilute spray on but boy it shines after and bird poo , dirt etc washes off with a spray during the week following, if I was bothered I was going to buy a tub of the stuff from AliExpress.
Diy and tons left much cheaper than the scam ones in auto shops ....

I was running 12mm on the rears with volans , spare now if you'd like to try them . With longer bolts ?

H&R 12mm? I saw those last night and thought they’d be perfect. If you don’t mind I’d love to see how they fit. Why aren’t you using them anymore?
No they're not H&R
I had them on when the Volans were on
Now I'm running 28mm adaptors rear 21mm front for the bbs Jag wheels as the wheels are ET60 ?

Oh nice!
I’ll flick you a message to tee up a time to come pick them up. Legend
Test fitted 12mm spacers (cheers @rado), still a fair bit of room so will go 15mm and remove plastic guard if I need to.
Still looking insanely good after the paint correction and ceramic coat last week.
Not much happening at the moment, waiting on a bunch of parts from Berry Motor Group including some S70 roof rail trim so I can finally get rid of these terrible flaky ones.
I am not enjoying playing music via the tape deck - is it sacrilege to install a double din? I know the plastic needs to be filed down, so point of no return… this Pioneer one doesn’t look half bad.
I’m also trying to track down the elusive HT-259 parcel shelf speakers if anyone has a lead.
Here’s a nice photo from classic cars & coffee last Sunday.
I had that very H/U in my S70T5 auto, some JBL odd sized 2/3 way speakers in rear shelf with amp up back to power them the rear door units disabled as no point aiming at feet. It was a rock show cranked up.
Get decent mid speakers to go in the shelf, splits, tweets on outer edge or good two ways, any old Volvo ones will need recommend or suspension replacement or voice coil repaired, unless it was Dynaudio set up there is no point....
I've never really looked at the inside of a t5r , not seen those heater controls before . Like the blue on the stereo ?
With regards to the roof rail trim , when I had my car painted recently the guy was saying he could strip them and paint them . I'm interested to see what yours look like with S70 ones on . Are they different to 850s ?
Don’t believe that’s a T-5R interior, think it’s a P80 S/V/C70. Just a picture I found off the net. I’ve decided against installing an aftermarket stereo, for the sake of period correctness I’m going to go with a Yatour bluetooth adapter behind the factory head unit. Kind of want to go for the OEM+ vibe.
They are quite different. S/V70 ones do not have metal underneath, they are full rubber so they don’t peel. I might coat mine as they are quite faded (although match the rest of the faded trim).
Bit of an update - the tint has been refreshed (wish I had done this before summer) and had some pretty major mechanical work done. PCV system replaced, all new engine seals and an engine mount replaced. Oil pick up filter cleaned out and engine refreshed with all new oil. No more noisy hydraulic lifters! However it now sounds like I’ve got a BOV… suspect boost leak somewhere, need to have a look.
The headlining is being done in the next few weeks - going with charcoal alcantara to match the door pillars, even though the seats are black. Going to have a crack at painting the plastic trim on the weekend.
How'd you go with the spacers on the rear ?

I went with 15mm in the end. Had to remove some of the plastic guard as it rubbed under hard cornering, but looks the goods ?
I’ve got yours in the box ready to give back, let me know if you’ll be at the next Classics and I’ll bring them along!
15s look spot on ? . Yep will let you know when I'll go to a meet ?
I'd suggest 9002 alcantara, rather than 9052 alcantara for the roof lining.
My roof lining is almost black and matches the charcoal plastic trim pieces really well.
The Volvo seat insert alcantara is closer to 9002 (darker) than 9052. I know this because I accidentally ordered, and received earlier this week, my console lid trim and handbrake boot in 9052.
Both are distinctly different to my steering wheel (alcantara 9002) and it's quite obvious. In the right lighting conditions, 9052 can look quite dark, but its a long way from black. In higher natural light, 9052 is a lot closer to a lighter colour grey.
