Maybe I’ll just buy another Mazda, it sounds like less work, but not really that interesting

auvolvo,,,,, the v50 are easy to work on and are a great little car with not many issues maybe you have not been shown properly how to change these items. I have for my daughter as her first car which she loves.

Most of my customers love their v50s

Hi Deger, thanks for your reply. Perhaps I have higher expectations, however the lower radiator hose for me was definitely not a quick and easy change, it was very fiddly and time consuming. You have to remove so much crap out of the engine bay at first, and then try and work around the wiring harness, under , over and around so much stuff and then wrestle to get the ECU box and air filter box back into place. Given the frequency of failure rate of this specific hose I have read online, I opted to replace with silicone hoses perhaps this made the job a little more difficult as the hoses seemed to be tighter fitting. but still, if this hose failed again id most probably just sell the car.

Additionally, the lower hose from underneath the coolant tank which extends to the back of the motor is also a tight fit. My only saving grace was I have small hands.

If you know how to change the cabin filter easily, i'm all ears. because many online have also complained regarding the issues with changing even the basic cabin filter. My friends Toyota Camry took a whole 2 minutes to change. if you can change the cabin filter of a V50 in 2 minutes, Ill drive over and you can show me :)

I've done the cabin filter just a few times now

Maybe takes me 15minutes

Its way easier on LHD p1 cars than rhd one for sure

Lhd is 2 minutes max

That said, changing the engine air filter on a p1 has to be the fastest on near any factory car

Undo one vacuum hose and then one wing nut and 3 clips on the 80. 30seconds tops

any car engine filter is basic to change. I was refering to the cabin filter. I dont see how the cabin filter is done in 15 minutes.

remove lower center console, remove lh side under console + remove glove box, the peal back carpet lining, then undo and unclip the fuse box section that obstruct the access to the cabin filter which sits under the glove compartment, then wrestle the cabin filter out over a close bracket which prevent flter easy slide out. then try and insert new filter in tight space without ripping and the everything else in is installed in reverse.

that definitely did not take 15 minutes for me. how do you change it?

@AUVOLVO you are doing it wrong.

I can do them in 5 min

You don't need to remove the console or glovebox

If you remove the CEM and the bracket it's very easy

Open hood and 2 t25 torx that take 3 turns and are captive and it slides out in a carrier
