I would advise not to buy a V50 if your wanting a easy to maintain car. I have a 2.5L v50 AWd turbo and nothing has been simple to fix or replace. plastic, plastic plastic everywhere just ready to break under the bonnet if you as much as look at it. On the upside the V50 is a nice car to drive, mine is quite thirsty. but dam who ever designed this V50 should have been shot. TBH, i feel the V50 design maintenance as been an after through the whole car.
Cabin filter - bastard of a job, well over an hour to change.
Octopus Hose - Nightmare to change - over 4 hours
Even the oil filter is not as easy to change as an old v40 was much easier.
Want to change the audio? again not simple as everything is integrated.
Ive had it 12 months and I have already had to change the coolant tank.
I'm dreading to see what is installed for me next as I plan to change brake pad & rotors, timing belt etc, drain fill trans + AWD filter just as a preventive maintenance thing i always do when i get a second hand car.
If you do buy a V50, place a bible in the glove box, perhaps that might help :)
