Yeah, I think the cause is slight misalignment of the tube and softer/smaller/thinner o-ring that is responsible. People tend to have good luck doubling up on them or backing them with a washer.

Taking the engine out has given me the opportunity to make some changes that I've been putting off for a while, so I'll PM you @Major Ledfoot :)

I should give an update to this thread as I've been doing some work on the car lately!

After the oil pressure issue discussed above I decided to buy a transfer tube from Zelig on Turbobricks:

Replaces the seal with a pair of o-rings and braces the tube to the pump.

Then I sent off an adapter that I drew up to get made in China. This adapts the AW71 bell to a GM MA5 gearbox found in Rodeos/2wd Colorados

Changed to a falcon throttle body as it has an integrated 2 wire idle valve, machined it down to suit the 70mm intercooler piping I am using

Then I decided to use some more serious coils;

Hopefully they clear the bonnet!

Wow nice work...interested to hear more about the gearbox swap and how it works out!

If you can make the MA5 work I think you'll have a LOT of interest in those adapter plates. Those gearboxes can be had for ~$350 all day every day and should be able to hold 600whp or more.

Also, if I recall correctly, doesn't the MA5 have the same gearbox-bell pattern as the R154? Being as the MA5 is just an evolution of the venerable Toyota box.

Awesome work (again) on the adapter plate. Given how hard it is to find Tremec T5 boxes now, there could be a demand for MA5 conversions.

Thanks for the kind words! Keen to drive with the gearbox for a while to see how it goes before getting more adapters made etc.

I ended up using a Mazda RX8 clutch disc and pressure plate on the standard Volvo flat flywheel that I machined the 60-2 trigger pattern in;

I also put some brembo calipers I got off an Alfa 159 at pickapart ages ago to use with some XC90 336mm rotors

3.6 Colorado rwd. It's not a simple fit like a t5 though.
