Ok a quick google has solved it for me . Turns out to be a bulb in the cluster the one that lights up the arrow for winter mode .
So to the shed again and took out that cluster and robbed the bulbs from it . So now also have the clock lit up as that one had gone as well .
Very easy fix and glad its done now . Unfortunately it looks like the dash pad has been off several times over the years and , well its looking pretty tired so I may rob the other one but its beige so may get it covered in suede to match the seats ......
