So went for a good drive on Saturday and all was well , no warning lights so that was a bonus but bit smelly , turns out I didn't tighten the black ring up enough when I changed the fuel pump so no biggy. So while the boot was in bits thought it was time to go to stage 2 of the bass speaker...
Off with the speaker

Then flip It over and remove the carpet

At this stage the plan was to take the mesh off ,cut a square out of the top layer , put new ply in and cut holes into it and recover with the carpet . At this stage i changed my mind .

I grabbed the original speaker grill and some leftover mesh and began to sink it in

With a grinder widen the hole then cut and glued new ply in

Then glued the carpet back on , sanded , filled and painted the grill body colour

I do think the carpet was muffling it slightly so hopefully this will be better. Will put it back in the car tonight.....
