Yep , if you keep pumping and releasing the pressure will improve

Very satisfying release of pressure but when older it takes a lot more and even other chemicals to attain the ability to get the pressure out , its annoying.

Monthly update time
Carried out usual 4k oil and filter change last week and all is well

Now the car has a tune at last via VA5T . Some of you mat have read the vast tune help thread . Overall it's a plus over the oem ecu with the mods on the car . It's smooth and more boost but I'm not computer savvy obviously to get it to where it could be . Time will tell on this , I'm not closing the door on this .....

I've been heavily looking into carbon fibre works for months now , just more eye candy I suppose. Just thinking out aloud

Noticed the last four days that little fan started making a noise again....

So I took it out , but something interesting is once i took all the surrounds off it didn’t make the screeching noise. Anywho I took it all apart but could not see where to grease up so I gave it a few squirts of wd . Seems all good now , again .
Worth keeping an eye on these ..

Oh I'm hopefully going to get a good run for vast tomorrow as the next run requires me to go from 30 to 160 ks . Tbh I'm not keen on this requirement !
Of course I've booked a track day to do this kind of speed as on a public road would be stupid hey 🫢

Got up early this morning , but still sat at the table drinking coffee . Heads a bit fuzzy lol

Unhappy bunny update....

Jumped in the car after work yesterday to zip to the shops , got to some lights that literally changed orange as passing so booted it and there's quite a bang . Black smoke , stuttering and yep nada . Got it started in a panic and got to a side road . Didn't really know where I was so got home up o the phone and around 4 minutes away . I have the original ecu under my seat so last ditch try I swap the ecu and long story short it got me home ....
So Dr Google , first I did think turbo hmm ok but further investigation I disconnected the maf and heyho car starts perfectly, bit more reading and yep I recon the culprit is maf sensor , consequently I changed the air filter for a new k&n , wonder if that's oiled . Anywho hopefully this is the fix .
The black smoke was shocking , at the time I didn't know what to think ...

Pop a boost hose? That would be my first check

hamsandwich that's where I would start also. Make sure all hoses are connected tightly from turbo outlet to intake manifold. Now you have 17 psi flowing through thoes pipes and silicone couplings a good chance they can pop off. You will most definitely hear a boost leak also.

MAF is usually limp mode unless the tune hasn't got that in it I spose.
Must have dumped a ton of fuel in which isn't great for it.
If you can get it dyno tuned you would be in a better position.

So with a balls up of a day at work , I even took the mrs phone to work instead of mine I got home and attacked the car . Checking all hoses and yep OK found this one ....

......connected all back up but the lambda light still on . Checked for codes and nothing ( oem ecu ) so put the vast ecu back in and all is good no lights on the dash happy days again .

Anyway, bought a new maf sensor and went through every single boost hose including hoses to and from the intercooler and all is very good . Had a few short runs in the car and did notice 18 on the boost gauge , the cars pretty lively now 😏 , still loving it .
Next up drive shafts...

I like the piano black as it goes, I looked at that but thought it was too modern for the R . I'm digging the black Pearl atm sounds a bit piratey lol ..

We ALL have chocolate RODS. I regularly see 22 psi on my boost guage I can't wait till mine depart the chat lol.

Bit of an update then....
The radio , yep love the Alpine good bit of kit but it's silver and it's always been bugging me so I'm going back to oem but I've bought the cables required to run the 5 channel amp . With that in mind I took the little blue rubber sheaths off the bulbs that make the illumination green ...

Today was driveshaft day , actually a nice job to do . Hardest part was getting the old nut off . No pics of job as pretty messy but here's the old ones

Fair amount of play in that bearing as well , extremely nice drive now 👌

The aircon has a mind of its own at the moment, I've tried everything that utube etc has to offer . Today it's working lol so hopefully its just a re-gas .

I received the oem strut brace and the oem cupboard for the boot but still in the box , will do something with those soon enough .
It seems the strut brace is anodised can anyone confirm this ? As I'd like to polish it up so I may have to get it blasted if it's hard anodised.

Anodising won’t be thick, that’s the nature of it, can be scuffed easily.

Ask a plating mob that does show hot rod parts to chrome it if that’s yer jam!
