Okay so the events of the last week have been:
- Reconnect everything, break a banjo bolt
- Buy the only M8x1.0 banjo bolt in the whole of Perth
- Finish reconnecting everything
- Leaking fuel distributor block (because John the moron decided to start pulling it apart, thinking it might have been the cause of the no fuel problem)
- Disconnect everything again, tighten fuel distributor block bolts more
- Reconnect, still leaking, trying to start but not quite, disconnect
- Buy torque wrench, verniers etc
- Pull whole block apart and clean inside religiously with methylated spirits and brand new rags
- Reassemble block and torque bolts to correct spec, adjust depth of ring surrounding piston to 0.6mm (all as per this document)
- Reconnect everything, block still leaking
After all of that I am left with a few options, I can spend $415 and get Colin from K-Jet.biz to send me a rebuilt block, or I can convert to EFI or Carby.
At this stage I just want a running car, and Daniel from the WA Volvo Enthusiasts group is wrecking a 240 sedan with a B23A motor. I'm going to use this setup (hopefully) to replace the K-Jet, (hopefully) for less money. If anybody here has done a similar swap I would greatly appreciate some advice.
It's not that I don't like it, but I would prefer to have a car with less specialty parts on it if possible particularly as it is a daily. And the carby turbo route seems more and more appealing the more I read about it.
