They don't poke too much, the photo makes it look worse than it is, they sit a little past flush with the outer edge of the front guard.
I will probably be running 205/50R15's.
That's going to be massive stretch on an 8" wheel, and is a very short tyre. Is that what you're going for? Either way, looking forward to seeing them with tyres from different angles.
How much clearance do you have to the strut tube?

I have 195's on 10in rims on the rear of my 360 (profile pic) and that is fairly stretched, I don't think 205's look that stretched on 8in rims, sometimes it depends on the case design too.
I am a little worried about the tyre height as the car is currently a 4 speed and will see some highway driving.
I will just have to play around with tyre sizes I guess, a 215/60R15 would be alright I think, but would have to see what the guard clearance is.
Clearance to the strut tube is good, pretty close to factory.
