Best engine I ever built mid range torque was amazing. Experiment away my friend, you will learn more than you will ever learn from forums.
And to think some would say that a pair of 45 DCOEs were too big for a B20...
Trouble was, 30 years ago, there were no fora! Those Who Knew Things didn't tell anybody anything. Unless you paid them a lot of money to get things done at their shops, and only maybe even then. Nobody would tell you who made bits to improve performance. So I'm all for sharing info and experiences. Sometimes the only way you get the experiences is by experimenting and doing it yourself, which is all well and good if you have a good working knowledge and the budget / resources / skills to experiment.
Fora can make for good guides, but you must carefully consider the sources of info on them - have they done it themselves? Have they only read about others doing it? Have they not woken up yet from dreaming?
Many folks - myself included - learn by doing, and that will involve making mistakes,
frequently occasionally expensive and embarrassing ones. But mistakes should be seen as good lessons in what
not to do, and going by that, I reckon I now have the equivalent of several masters' degrees from that process!
It's all about having fun with cars, y'know?
