Ok seeing though you're not going to let up on the coilover thing!
The only part of the original front suspension I'm going to be using is the crossmember,

So front suspension is going to consist of
- custom Tubular adjustable wishbones
- 2" drop spindles using Holden ball joints
- Custom front hubs
- s60r front calipers
- Willwood discs
- upside down Viking coilovers

The reason for doing this is to have better brakes get More adjustability in my suspension
And maintain suspension travel while being able to run lower its also going to make it easier to corner weight it.

Upside down, as in shaft down the bottom, to reduce unsprung mass?

Who's designing it? Are you changing the Pickup points as well? Moving the track out? the roll centres on these are horrific for turning fast and someone experimented with moving the top arm points to bring the roll centre up, so are you modifying that too?

The thing is I don't have the time to get into lengthy discussions about how or why I'm doing something the way I am. I'm not asking for opinions or help, I'm posting my build, as I complete a component of the build I will post photos and supply information but spending time discussing components and theories actually steals time from getting on with my build.

What other people have done does not relate to this build, yes it's a 120 body but that's about it.
What I want to do is something unique but with this comes time and testing so when it's done it'll get posted.

Not trying to change your direction. Just asking questions in relation to the build and improving other 122s with the knowledge gained in this one. As you've said the whole lot will be reversible.

Did you join the rear section of the inner gaurd near the firewall to the chassis rail? It Doesn't look it from those angles. Would suck to see it crack

Looks like standard pickup points. Did the lower control arm mounts get Braced?

Will the new arms be more unequal length to increase camber gain in corners?

Yeah did it in acrylic.
Didn't end up welding the inner guard so will have to go with the fingers crossed method for now...

Arms will be adjustable so that will give me the ability to get more camber and adjust my track. Won't be until next year until I can order the chromoly tube and rod ends to start on the arms, using Holden ball joints and Torana stubtech 2" drop spindals with Commodore disc brake mounts ( can get adapters for these to run s60r brembos) should be a slight improvement on the original Amazon front suspension and braking!

The front sounds good, is there any other front arms that could be used as a basis from places like Castlemaine rod shop? Though the top arms are quite short stock on the top iirc. So the bottom needs to be a lot longer. But then the stub is going to be fun.

We will be replicating the original arms and making them adjustable as for the stub they're exactly the same distance from ball joint to ball joint so no calculations needed in that area.
I should make it clear that as we are looking to improve handling this is not the only reason for custom wishbones... As you know the originals mount to a bush with a u bolt on the top and the lower is also bulky in its pressed steel makeup this makes for a tight fit in areas that I'm tight for space in already so in using the more compact rod ends I can reduce the amount I need to section from the sump and increase the area around my intercooler piping from the compressor housing.

I didn't think there would be clearance issues for the sump? are you using a 960 sump and cutting it down?

This 122 that's in the build did his an interesting way, is that the general direction your heading too?

So torana stubs are the same height as volvo?

Yes that's what we plan to do but because we are changing the lower arms we won't have to section as much from the sump. Upper arms are more of a problem with the turbo.

Yes Torana stubs are the same distance from ball joint to ball joint.

Given there isn't much in the lower arms, the bushes are not very big and the bolt is most of the room I thought? I'm going to be interested to see that result.

What size are the rims and who makes them? They look 18"! Which is huge for the bodywork... But that is the trend, 22"s under xr falcons and the like.

Bought that book on my phone. Its better than earlier amazon books.
