How does that fit anywhere? Do you have to cut out the middle or something?
Its underneath the trans tunnel - you have to drop the transmission to fit it.

Necromancing this thread, been pulling apart the front carpeting. Looking on Google for some info on Volvo 240 Sound Deadening and this thread came up top.

There's a couple of sound deadening floormats under the driver and passenger floor (1313119 LH & 1313120 RH) made from Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) although it looks as if the "vinyl" my be some sort of vulcanised rubber.

Mine were stuffed, a bit of moisture some surface cracking but most of all "The Smell".

Driver's side was starting to crack and looks like some water ingress. White powder is zinc from the galvanized wiring & hose service cover. Also looks like some sort of exotic Swedish mould.

Anyhoo Car Builder makes a "Mass Noise Liner" the weight and thickness looks the same. 10mm foam and approximately 3-4mm vinyl.

Got a sheet from Autobarn and can just fit in the front mats and have enough left over for the firewall insulation. Best way I suppose is to keep the pattern that slots into the floorpan…….. any sacrificed mm to be at the top. I've got these laid out roughly and should have the floorpan side in the middle.

Does anyone have a engine firewall insulation pad that I can get a pattern from?

Oh and a cool tip I got for getting rid of that butyl/bitumen sheet deadener. Some recommend heat and turps, other dry ice. Another recommened freeze spray. I had a spare can so thought I'd give it a try. You can get these from Jaycar.

Spray it on the insulation. It's iced up here.

And shatter off the frozen brittle deadener with a hammer.

Works a treat. I tidied up any residue with a wire brush on the drill.

All this sound deadening on the old 240s almost makes me jealous, I'll need to add some to my S60.

Seconding the suggestion for using aluminium/butyl flashing (instead of marked-up car stuff) - already bought some but it's a bit thin, so will be shopping around for heavier flashing and add a layer of Polyethylene Foam Rolls (IXPE - Formshield) while I'm "at it".

Will go with the foil 10mm, 25M type for $315, should be enough for that roadnoisy S60.

crawlvo it seems similar to stuff like Dynamat, Car Builders etc.

Actually, I have Dynamat hoodliner under the bonnet of my 244 and honestly I'm shocked at how much noise reduction it created.
