@volvodriverman what did yours do in the end? Not Rev?
Constant intermittent miss, would drop revs then idle wound jump 500rpm or so & it would lurch forwards...also it was gutless compared to the b28.
Mine doesn't do that anymore with my heads decked .35" but gets to 4500 and the ignition cut hits thinking its a knock. Did you use sealant on the o rings for the manifold? Mine did hunt before I did the heads.
That's e="Vee_Que;9872"]

Thats interesting, any idea why? Yep used sealant. I had knock codes randomly with mine too, there was no knock though. I think the sensors are a common problem. That tomass fella has a solution which I tried & it cured the knock code, but the hunting miss issue continued. I wonder if it was tank pump on thinking about it, had a 240 do something similar when it lost the intank...

You sick puppy...
So, B28 with AW70 is the choice and will allow a good compromise between time and changes required plus I get to keep the marque true (and get a new coffee table in thepprocess...) Now to make two 264 2.8 badges...
Aw71 actually...

What did tomass do?
Hijack question for VQ , Tiga et al , i see a 164 round here and asked him how much , he said $1000 as we were in an intersection i couldnt say its too much but got number. Its a noisy old motor , the paint is very poor , dont know much else but its Maroon like yours Tiga.
Whats it worth and i suppose the exchange motor comes into play like you are up to tiga.
Alex , did you say you had stuff to rebuild one motor or one already built?
Cheers Blokes.
Thanks @Ex850R but yeah, is straight 6 and if going to that pain, would rather go B6304 and 5 speed manual... Cheers @Vee_Que - I sit corrected.... ;-)

Cheap knock sensors off a Nissan, I tried it & it worked. Look up his thread on tb, I think he's tomass on there...

Cheers boys , of course !
Tig , there is a Lexus straight 6 on eBay cheap if you were changing?
@Vee_Que would you mind measuring up the dimensions et al of the PRV manual flywheel for me? Unless anyone has the dimensions on hand or a schematic of one...
I say Greggles @carnut1100 do you have access to PRV flywheel, either directly or through the Frog Lesion in An Tasmainach?
5L Holden V8 is good and sounds fantastic - I've seen a couple done, but its cast iron...

Ellis Juan -
Or any of the GM LSx engines are a better idea if you must have a v8. aluminium block = better weight distribution, narrower V than the Holden 5L engines makes packaging them in there easier, allows neat exhaust system and the steering column clearance will only be a small clusterf**k rather than a bigger one.
Lots of performance parts out there too and factory ECU is tunable and very good.
Go for one from a VY at the latest so that you can have cable throttle rather than ETM. Makes life easier.

Buick/Commodore V6 -
They sound like an asthmatic hairdryer, but are very robust and cheap.
Caz in the VCOV has one in a 262. Its kool like a 262 and reliable (unlike a 262).
Inexpensive, reliable and cheapish to run but its still an unexciting engine.

B230/M47 combo -
You wont have to worry about fab'ing mounts, etc and everything is plug-n-play, just time consuming to swap it all over.

BMW Straight 6 (same with Volvo 5 cyl) -
Super cool conversion, but expensive to do here because of higher wrecker prices for all the little things you might need. Might be practical financially if you can pick up a damaged complete car.

SR20DET -
Interesting.
Good package size. LOTS of performance parts. Reliable. Loves to rev. cheap(ish)
Easy fit for a 240/260 engine bay.
None of the Nissan manual boxes that will work place the shifter in an ideal location, so you either have the engine too far forward or youre cutting up the trans tunnel and working on fab'ing up shifter linkages or remote shifters.
Thanks @AshDVS - yes, the brother of the same mother has an Ellis Juan sitting in his workshop which has had valvetrain and headwork done. Wants $1.2k for it, but it is friends so no special deals...

He also has multiple Nissan screamers as well... He'll just give me those for beer if I want them...

With or without black box?
