Is that a modified early 80's grille? Don't think the later ones ever came with the "egg crate" style grilles... if so, interested to hear how you did it
I wouldn't have a clue lol
I got rid of the chrome grill that came on the car then I found this grill in the boot of the 242gt I was wrecking I needed a grill and it fit so it got put on .. It fit just like stock no modifications needed other then a couple cable ties and screws cause its mounting pieces were all broken off

I did the same thing on my 88 240. The early eggcrate grille fits but you have to extend the upper tabs rearward otherwise the grille sits too far rearward at the top. I did this with a couple 20 mm wide strips of thin aluminium. Also with the later headlights and early grille, there's a bit of a gap between the grille and the side of the headlight. You could fix that by putting the early headlight trims on that have the L-shape (vs. late lights with just the top trim and separate side filler piece that sits a little too far rearward with the early grille).240;132856 wroteIs that a modified early 80's grille? Just a quick update .
I got a set of virgos for the old girl looks so much better then the other rims i had on , booked in tomorrow morning to get new tires all round .

Also got the overdrive working finally , 4th gear switch is dead so just bypassed it for now and put a switch on the dash so i wont bump it accidentally in another gear.

A few more things coming up soon.
im going to be slowly changing all the interior things to black...
ive got heaps of black plastic trims n things already , i scored a tan leather rear seat ill dye black and throw in, pull the white roof liner out and dye that black as well then look for some leather front seats , leaning more towards using some alfa seats they seem abit easier to find then good condition volvo front leather seats .
got some spare door cards so the misses and i are going to get creative and see what we can do to them.
Also will be gathering parts to do a flat hood conversion ive pretty much already got everything just need the round headlight surrounds and a grill and its good to go.

I have alpha seats and do recommend
yeah i think that's the way ill be going im yet to see a cheap good condition set of volvo front leathers they seem to fall apart pretty bad the only thing im not a fan of with the alpha seats is the headrest i just dont think it suits the car would be nice if i could Frankenstein the 240 headrests on somehowheavy_dd;134375 wroteI have alpha seats and do recommend
Do the Alfa seats bolt straight in? I've read that they point inwards (towards the transmission tunnel), is that true?
Only reason I haven't done it is because they won't match the back seat, but maybe it's still worth it...

I dont think its as simple as a direct bolt in but i know theres not a lot involved .240;134392 wroteDo the Alfa seats bolt straight in? I've read that they point inwards (towards the transmission tunnel), is that true?

theres a bloke who made the rear alpha seat work in a 240 it was a lot of work though
not sure on them pointing inwards ill have to look into that , most seats do tend to point in a little bit even if its not noticeable but if it does point in heaps that might look abit funny , maybe @heavy_dd could share more light on this and the mounting .
ideally i would like matching 240 fronts but they just dont seem to hold up over time from what ive seen and then if you were to find a mint pair im sure they would be pricey .
i get torn which direction to go with the car, one side wants to go full euro trash just something nasty and mean looking but then its such a clean car the paint ,panels and interior are perfect i cant bring myself to ruin it ... if it had terrible paint it would be rat as fuck and ridicules looking by now ........... maybe i need to buy another one and have one of each......its the only logical option right ;)
I totally agree with the headrest and would love the stock one up there. As far as them pointing in, it's not overly noticable I don't think. I'll take some photos if you like.

A lot will be happening over the next 3 weeks ill keep updating this as i go.
I have started to redo all the door trims with blue flanno i think it turned out great this was just a test panel next im trying to dye the blue vinyl black as i want to change the whole interior to black vinyls and plastics along with black leather seats .

ill be also doing the parcel tray in the flanno and adding some speaker spacers to get some 6x9s in and pulling the roof liner out to dye it from white to black
ill be updating all the speakers and adding an amp to power them maybe a sub in the boot but if i do it wont be anything huge or special
just got a new clutch and throwout bearing so the box is coming back off to install that
new wheel bearings
swapping a falcon front sway bar on
and if all goes to plan and i can get the last thing i need ill be converting the front end to the early flat hood style will have mismatched paint and the wrong cowl for a little bit but that will be getting all painted up and matched in the near future
ive got a leather rear seat to go in i just need to prep and dye it which is all abit of a process so that might take a few more weeks till its ready to go in

Let us know how you go with installing the Falcon sway bar, I have one for my car but tossing up between different installation methods
from what ive read its pretty straight forward just need to space the brake lines for it to clear but ill update as it happens im sure there will be some unforeseen situation lol240;135831 wroteLet us know how you go with installing the Falcon sway bar, I have one for my car but tossing up between different installation methods
If you got the bar from an EL Falcon I'm told it should clear the brake lines.
The difficulty is with the D bushes, the Falcon brackets are different to the 240 but the Falcon bushes don't fit in the 240 brackets. So you either need to grind the Falcon bushes to fit the 240 bracket, or make some sort of spacer to allow you to use the Falcon bracket. Hope that makes sense...

yeah mine came out of an EL Falcon so thats a start , i didn't know about the bushes ill have to get creative and see what i can come up with to make it work240;135849 wroteIf you got the bar from an EL Falcon I'm told it should clear the brake lines.
