Little bit of an update. Went to the Mighty Car Mods VIC meet last weekend gone at Winton Raceway. It was a fun track day essentially. Only top speed of 130km/h allowed and supposed to be no overtaking in corners unless safe to to do so. It was a pretty cool concept as nobody needed a helmet and you could have a passenger on track with you. Was a really fun day out with heaps of different cars on the track at once, from a 70's Holden panel van to an S2000.
Unfortunately the car developed a misfire on the second lap of the first session under load, so I drove around the problem by only using half and three-quarter throttle most of the time. It was still pretty quick like that anyway. On the track the engine temp was running quite warm (27deg sunny day), but it never overheated. The Brakes held up nicely and they got a real punishing at Winton with it's tight corners and the power the car has to point and shoot fro corner to corner.
I was pretty happy with the handling overall considering the simple setup. The tyres turned to mush after about 2 or 3 laps. Looking forward to a proper track day with some R-rated rubber. Probably the biggest issue is the seats. You just fall out of them and find yourself hanging on to the steering wheel. On longer sweepers I could just commit to hanging half out the seat and pull myself straight on exiting the corner using the steering wheel, lol!
Here is some footage of the car:

When I got home I ran some diagnostics. Sure enough, misfires galore. Once it cooled down I found two plug leads were only just sitting on the plugs. Of course they were the ones hardest to see and feel around the brake booster!
Some of the original plug leads had lost their interference-fit on the plug and no longer had a good 'click' feel to them when installing. Have been remedying that this afternoon with new leads and cleaning up the factory heat shields with some scotch-brite.
I just want to end this post and mark this moment in time by saying R.I.P. to my Mum, Angela, who passed away on the morning of the 1st of November after a long battle with Cancer. Love you Mum ♥ thanks for everything.
