Tidy little addition, an air guide! I've NEVER seen one of these before, but it's a Volvo part #1202941 still available to buy, and was pretty cheap too.

Very interesting! Never seen one either. I wonder what cars it came on from the factory or whether it was an after-thought of some sort? I'm only familiar with the ones on the later 240s that guide air up from the under-bumper spoiler air holes.

I'm not sure, I just noticed it in the assembly diagram while looking for another part in VADIS and then saw it was ~$65 so thought why not, it's nice to have it there as my AC refrigerant lines are fairly exposed to the road otherwise.

Can confirm 80 gt has it. It'd be to suit the chin spoiler after that of the 79 gt and before the later plastic bumpers and hence later spoiler I reckon.

Interesting. Are the under trays meant to have vents?. My alloy tray is solid to catch the oil drips.

Some were solid and some had the vent slots. The later plastic ones are solid...I prefer the solid ones as it prevents road debris from getting in the engine bay...the metal ones are more durable. I have a slotted steel one to go back on the 79 wagon but I think I'll pop rivet some aluminium sheet behind the vent holes, or maybe make up an aluminium under tray.

That air guide is an nice and unusual addition, wonder if it will help keep engine temps down much in summer?

So I got back from the Boosters all clubs show'n'shine in early December and put Amy in the garage and haven't touched the car until yesterday. Started it up to move it and it pissed fuel everywhere from around the pump assembly.

Put it up on stands and ran it again and not a drop of fuel anywhere! Frustrating. It might be one of the barb fittings, but the tank hoses are a bit hard so I might just refresh everything.

Finally got the Skandix gas struts for the boot, as well as a new boot seal from VP Auto Parts. Boot now behaves properly, when you turn the lock it pops up enough to release, and it no longer falls on your head randomly ?

I used my press to compress the struts and fabbed up a tool to hold them compressed for installation. It worked really well!

As you can see, the old struts were TOAST

I tapped the EGR ports to M14x1.5, had to bottom tap to get enough thread depth so if you go this route keep that in mind that you'll need both a starter and a bottoming M14 tap.

I installed these plugs with sealant, flush fit. Probably overkill but I wasn't sure how much clearance I'd have to the manifold so decided this was the safest option.

All this junk (+ the alternator pulley and fan) is going off to be cleaned up and plated. Not crazy shiny, just a fresh factory style gold zinc finish.

I'm also going to see if I have any more water pump and crank pulleys lying around as I'll chuck them all in and probably put them up for sale if anyone is interested.

Nice, although the rubber on that clamp may not last too long with the manifold heat. Could you replace the rubber with a short bit of oversized silicone hose slit ad placed over the braided SS hose, then clamped with an all-metal clamp? Sorry to pick at it...love your work!

I've used this setup before, the rubber seems to last. It's rated to like 200 degrees or something. The manifold would certainly get hotter than that, but whether enough of that heat transfers into the rubber and isn't wicked away by the oil line I'm not sure.
