It's been a while so I thought I'd update my thread! Picked up a 23mm rear sway bar and installed it today. I thought the job was just 'undo four bolts and swap out the bar', which it really is, but I didn't realise that two of the bolts holding the swaybar in also held the shocks in. As a result when i took the bolt out on the left hand side, the whole axle dropped down giving me a shock.

Rectified by jacking it up and putting wood underneath the wheel.
Here is a size comparison of the standard 19mm sway my GLE had, and the 23mm which came off a '79 242GT if I'm correct.

After a brief test drive, I have noticed a lot less roll; I'm yet to take it up to speed or really push it.
