Good to see it found a good home. Looks like a great project. I don't think a 91 model would have had an airbag, I've only seen it on 93 models in Australia...

Yeah, @shak had the ideal box, will all the good gear in it.

One thing to watch for with your bellhousing though is that it's got the cutout for the flywheel sensor for LH 2.4, if you need it (which I believe you might with a '91).

Thanks @Major Ledfoot. The bellhousing does not have a cutout (and my car is lh2.4). How canI rectify this?

Also, for anyone who may know the answer, is there an issue of what side the clutch fork comes out? The slave cylinder sits on the left hand side of the trans; is this a problem for RHD?

Any variation of this method seems to rectify the issue of not having a cutout for an LH2.4 sensor. It was cast to be stamped out, but a little extra care would go a long way.

That is wonderful :) . I think when things start ramping up I might make a separate aw70 to T5 thread here, might help other people who are looking to do the same thing (but most importantly help myself)

There already is an auto to t5 thread, the difference between a 240 and 740 is the gearbox, and for everyone else, the mustang box is not relevant and will confuse the issue, the el falcon box is the most viable box to use if you want the whole lot installed for under 2k..

And the bellhousing is from a local car, American cars run a cable clutch so no, its not an issue. The adaptor plate you have does lean the shifter towards the lh side however, which is great for an American car, not for us.

Others probably know more than me... but assuming that is an M46 bellhousing - it looks like it must be from an older box. Mine (a later one) had a thinner section that was easily distinguishable that I had to hit out with a hammer. I didn't end up using it though, so you're welcome to it if you like, otherwise you could cut into your one...

Also in regards to what Vee Que said about there already being a thread on this, that's correct, but I'm sure it'd be useful if you made one too as no doubt you'd cover things that the other guy didn't, and vice versa. (Surely I'm not the only one who's done stuff on their car using info from two different threads or forums.)

Finally got my wheels on with new tyres. CSA 14' x 6.5' alloys wrapped in Hankook Optimo 205/70 tyres all round. Love it. Highly recommend JAX Bankstown.

Update: With cut springs there's quite a lot of body roll, which id like to rectify. The car has been running quite rich, might need new sensors. It is slow as but sounds great and hauls all kinds of stuff. With the new 205/70r14 tyres it was rubbing a lot on the guard, so I used a hammer to bend the lip up a little. The steel in the rear was very stubborn.

Currently saving for T5 swap + other exciting things

I don't daily it with anything on the roof, I had that on for a couple days of camping. Without anything on the roof it'll get about 13-14l/100km
