Samman88;87919 wroteAny variation of this method seems to rectify the issue of not having a cutout for an LH2.4 sensor. It was cast to be stamped out, but a little extra care would go a long way.

Nice build btw :)
That is wonderful :) . I think when things start ramping up I might make a separate aw70 to T5 thread here, might help other people who are looking to do the same thing (but most importantly help myself)
There already is an auto to t5 thread, the difference between a 240 and 740 is the gearbox, and for everyone else, the mustang box is not relevant and will confuse the issue, the el falcon box is the most viable box to use if you want the whole lot installed for under 2k..
And the bellhousing is from a local car, American cars run a cable clutch so no, its not an issue. The adaptor plate you have does lean the shifter towards the lh side however, which is great for an American car, not for us.

This is what my bellhousing looks like:

Where do I cut it out?
Others probably know more than me... but assuming that is an M46 bellhousing - it looks like it must be from an older box. Mine (a later one) had a thinner section that was easily distinguishable that I had to hit out with a hammer. I didn't end up using it though, so you're welcome to it if you like, otherwise you could cut into your one...

Also in regards to what Vee Que said about there already being a thread on this, that's correct, but I'm sure it'd be useful if you made one too as no doubt you'd cover things that the other guy didn't, and vice versa. (Surely I'm not the only one who's done stuff on their car using info from two different threads or forums.)

Finally got my wheels on with new tyres. CSA 14' x 6.5' alloys wrapped in Hankook Optimo 205/70 tyres all round. Love it. Highly recommend JAX Bankstown.

Do you have an answer about this yet?

If not, please say so here and I will go and take some photos of 2 of mine (I have one of each).

I do, will be picking up a correct bellhousing in the next couple of weeks. Thank you
Looking good Kevin.. I should have mine back this week.
No need to pick one up! Just need to match it against an auto one and cut!

if you don't mind me asking, how much have you spent on this so far?

Too much
She has not skipped a single beat since getting back on the road in August :)

Update: With cut springs there's quite a lot of body roll, which id like to rectify. The car has been running quite rich, might need new sensors. It is slow as but sounds great and hauls all kinds of stuff. With the new 205/70r14 tyres it was rubbing a lot on the guard, so I used a hammer to bend the lip up a little. The steel in the rear was very stubborn.

Currently saving for T5 swap + other exciting things

That thing on your bike racks is killing your economy

I don't daily it with anything on the roof, I had that on for a couple days of camping. Without anything on the roof it'll get about 13-14l/100km

Just putting the 27mm falcon bar up front will fix near all sway issues
6 months later
It's been a while so I thought I'd update my thread! Picked up a 23mm rear sway bar and installed it today. I thought the job was just 'undo four bolts and swap out the bar', which it really is, but I didn't realise that two of the bolts holding the swaybar in also held the shocks in. As a result when i took the bolt out on the left hand side, the whole axle dropped down giving me a shock.

Rectified by jacking it up and putting wood underneath the wheel.
Here is a size comparison of the standard 19mm sway my GLE had, and the 23mm which came off a '79 242GT if I'm correct.
And finally end result.
After a brief test drive, I have noticed a lot less roll; I'm yet to take it up to speed or really push it.

Update! Been dailying the car with a Sparco Sprint on Kaplhenke side mounts for a couple months now. Looks out of place but its massive improvement over the factory seat.

Got some new wheels - 12 slotters with Torana centres (5x108). 14x8 ET0. I had to use 10mm slip on spacers on the front because the centres of the wheels fouled on the calipers. Spent a couple hours machining the spacers down to a smaller size with a bench grinder so that they wouldnt hit the calipers either. Works great now.

I pulled the inner lip of the fender out as opposed to rolling them in. A lot more flare now but they look messy; will be doing a bit of bodywork over the next few weeks to rectify and clean them up. I have spacers which I want to run in the future hence the need for the flaring.

the old girl in action.

hopefully some bigger things will get underway in a couple months time!
How do you like the sparco sprint? Was thinking about putting a couple in my 240...
