Hello all,
After engaging in a chat and asking some questions I just today, after 8 years of ownership, looked at my Australian compliance plate. I have looked at the VIN plate dozens of times but never saw a need to look at Oz compliance.
I'm want to find out more about my 240 wagon and it's history.
The other chat had a couple of guys claim, correctly with sales receipts , they had the last 240's sold in Oz. One a sedan(NSW) and the other a wagon(VIC) . The wagon come off the production line 130 units before mine. Both have Oct '92 VIN. Where it gets interesting for me is that the sedan has 12/92 Oz compliance while my wagon has 5/93, 5 months after his car got compliance. I' m not interested in competing for last 240 sold. I am however interested in the last batch of 240's and especially where my wagon fits in. I don't have log books. The only clue I have to where it was sold is a faded SVM Scuderia Veloce Motors sticker on the back window. A well known Volvo dealer in Sydney and coincidentally where the last 240 sedan was sold. Any insights? Should I contact SVM or Volvo Australia? What do you reckon? Is the later compliance not really relevant?
It looks like the compliance plate is a bit of a furphy. According to another website.
Should I just just chase up the production line number?
Eg Is my wagon amongst the newest 240's or 240 wagons here in Australia?
Cheers
