Hi all,

I've got a burning desire for a V50 manual T5. I am aware they do exist in factory form but are very rare. I've seen a couple of manuals out there in the other engine variants recently, and got wondering if it would be a straightforward swap to drop in a T5 engine (and possibly M66 gearbox?) if I happened to have a donor vehicle.

I think mechanically I could do it, but haven't got any experience with VIDA so that could be a roadblock if there was extensive fiddling with computers/modules required.

I used to have a C30 T5 manual many years ago and would love to get back in to that platform in a wagon.

Cheers,

Kirk

You're not wrong… although that being a 2.0L Turbo UK import vs T5 Australian delivered is a bit of a spanner in the works.

It's stopped appearing for me now, I'm getting "missing page" stuffs from that link ... I didn't notice it was a grey import earlier, I was just thinking about how cheap that is for a 15yo Volvo wagon given that worse-condition 15yo 240 wagons were 1.5x that price in the late 90's which is prolly 4x the price once you take inflation into account!! Grey import explains the price, I reckon it's a parts risk.

It's not even turbo just a regular ford focus 2.0l 4cyl

Manual swapping and converting from na to turbo in a p1 chassis definitely goes into the too hard basket especially if you don't have a workshop or hoist.

Oh I see what they've done ... Carsales doesn't let you choose a make/model/spec that's not in Red Book so UK spec cars don't appear ... they couldn't choose whatever-it-is, so they chose the highest spec Oz model (the T5 R-design) and now all the specifications & equipment listed are for a T5 R-Design!

timbo Wouldn't it just be engine swapping though given it's already got a manual box? Or are you referring to a M56 swap to M66?
