+1 for Chequered Tuning. They have a good rep and high standards.
I was under the impression they have a wait time so you might factor that into your timeline.

Perhaps send them an email explaining your setup and goals and ask if they would be interested in working on the car?
They seem to have a very different business model to the "LS Maffless Tunes for $150" style tuners - and it seems to be working well for them.
The fact that they tune for motorsport teams and can tune everything from Motec to Hondata aswell as the fact they don't specialise in a certain engine speaks volumes for their tuning abilities.

You can get turbo tuners here cheaper as they come up for sale 2nd hand quite often and cj in the states is a very helpful bloke and will sort out the software exchange, another route is getting a 4.4 ecu which with a little wiring can now be tuned with tuner pro through obd2 with no need for an ostrich Tim Williams a very knowledgeable bloke in the UK is now doing this and my car is being mapped this way in the next few weeks, you can also map your 4.3 to a decent standard but need to bench map the ecu I'm looking into getting one of these to bring with me.

I thought the 850rs run 4.4 already?

Nope
The 1997 Manual ones did
But the autos were all M4.3

Got an email back from Trent, They said theyd be interested in tuning for it!

After a little more research, the Ostrich has been tried and tested on the M4.4 ECUs, so it looks like she is going 4.4!

Sockets came! These are a 32P PLCC Socket from Mouser Electronics (PN 8432-21B1-RK-TP), they will allow me to hook the Ostrich up with little to no messing around, just solder up the socket and plug in your adapter! more on this later.

I'm under the impression you can dip switch the 4.4 and burn new maps. Doesn't 4.4 give real time 0bd2 read out?

4.4 can read real-time through obd.

Ill be using the Ostrich unit for tuning, ALL of the limitations of the ECU are removed
Im a friggin pro at soldering :P

It would be easier I think if you knocked the bottom out of the socket. Then you'd have easier access to solder the pins (and, importantly, desolder them if one gets borked)
