I managed to source a black factory T-5R exhaust tip but noticed the the silencer is too short as the tip sits too far forward.

After further investigation I noticed the exhaust pipe hangers are bent back to reach the chassis hangers.

This explains why the tip that came on the car (simmons tip) sat too far forward also.

It turns out that I have a sedan silencer installed and need to source a wagon version.

Just out of curiosity whats the benefits of the ducted sump guard? Is it just to dissipate heat from the turbo?

I had my manifold and turbo exhaust housing black ceramic coated as I removed the factory heat shield when i fitted the latter style R manifold to try and elevate the heat it seems to work well.

I want to re fit the factory heat shield when i Fit the Japanifold i have if I ever pull my finger out.

Oh that sucks and I can relate 100%

Just bought a brand new steering wheel on GCP Black Friday. It is only good for a '93 air bagged 240.

Johnno_ I fell you, I have made a few mistakes on my journey and must put a few bits up for sale in the coming weeks when i sort my stock out. Car is currently on jack stands and i collect my handbrake cables tomorrow.

        TL_V70

Yes, to keep things cooler but it's interesting because there is also a big cut out of the protection that im sure would allow decent air flow up there anyway. I haven't seen the ducted one fitted before and thought it was a nice touch. Perhaps is region specific for certain 850 models but there's a limit to how much i could find online.
My thought process was 'airflow is good' so lets install it.

I do have the normal sump protection sitting in my shed - new from GCP. Like this one:

I've done a bit of reading about the japnifold, can you tell me more about it? There's a sound difference but power increase isn't much, if anything? Would this be right? Or maybe you can educate me on the differences between the T5, T-5R, R & japanifold?

I've been running the japanifold for a few years now but I changed it when I went to a bigger turbo and 3" downpipe and exhaust all at the same time . I have read that some guys when just changed the manifold did notice a difference..

I've had this guard oooo 6+ years sitting in the shed

          WINDSCREEN WIPERS

Wiper arms are known to warp and lift the blade off the windscreen during operation. In extreme cases collide with the bonnet.

Left arm removed, bent back into shape and refitted.

          HANDBRAKE CABLE

I made a mistake and ordered sedan cables instead of wagon cables. Some mechanics told me they're all the same but it turns out they're not and theres a difference in length too.

Managed to get genuine wagon cables that were in the country too,

After spending nearly 2 weeks on axle stands its finally back together and working as it should.

I loaded it up with my family (5 of us in total + cargo) which give me an idea of how it might look when lowered. Although this is too low.

          ACCESSORIES:

Managed to get a Casio T-5R watch from Japan and the factory radio remote.

During the BTCC era, a couple of BTCC 850 Racing watches were issued. A big yellow watch, completely dedicated to the T-5R, was issued in Japan. The watch is rare, but to be honest, it will not get a prize for the most beautiful T-5R gadget ever made.

          Image description

Ahh the remote control, I've yet to find a HU for that one . Still in its box ..

rado I have the original head unit sc-801, but don't have the code 😅

Should have hit me up mate , mines been sitting in the box since I bought it

I'd be happy to buy the sedan brake cables off you Morch as I've been think I ng to replace my hand brake cables and shoes etc.

242GT sounds good. Just replied to your Facebook message 😊

Another couple of items I've been chipping away at:

Found the correct wagon exhaust, cleaned it to use up some old products i had siting around using rust converter & Autosol.

The round caps that go over the nut are stupidly expensive for what they are and available via Skandix but are listed on FCP , see the photo below.

I used VW Passatt , Golf , Polo , Jetta , you will need to put an O ring inside the cap before pushing it over the Nut but they work just fine and total cost was less than Aus$3.50 per wiper.Image description
The O ring was just from a multi size pack in a plastic box.

                Image description

Just insert O ring in the inner section and it will hold nicelyImage description
                That's US$23.16 each plus postage , that's Aus$36.72c each plus postage.

I have those nut caps in my shed. They're actually from a 70 series Volvo. The 850 never had those caps from factory. Definitely not in 1995 anyway.

I'm chasing the plastic cap which resides beneath the arm as per my last photos.

                • Edited

I've done the S70 wiper conversion on my 850R, well worth doing, I didn't like the open hole where the nut is so worked out the VW cap & O ring solution as Skandix say the cap is no longer ger available but FCP have them as a clearance item on sale.
The plastic sleeve on the wiper shaft that your after is also NLA.

The only way you'll be able to replace those sleeves is to have them machined up from a bar of black superpro poly or rubber.
