Ex850R Nice people their , they had my V60 , very helpful , the owner lives in the same street a the Volvo Club of Victoria , 2 doors down!
jamesinc @trevingle45_ just add posts to your thread, don't start a new thread unless it's a new topic. I will merge this with your existing thread.
trevingle45_ Hi James. Not too ofay with technology. Will attempt to add photos. Please bear with me if I do it incorrectly.
trevingle45_ Hope these photos make sense the new paint job looks better than new. Had the steering wheel and cover plate at gear lever redone looks great but exxy. Front seats reupholstered in matching leather and gear lever boot to match. Prior to accident had all parts on front of engine,eg water pump ac compressor and condenser power steering and all relevant bits replaced.. waiting on clock spring to fit steering wheel. Not bad for a car destined for wreckers.
jamesinc @trevingle45_ that looks absolutely immaculate, well done! It's nice to see an XC90 getting some love instead of getting driven into the ground like the ones I see around Sydney.
trevingle45_ Thanks for the positive input. Great car especially with that throaty v8 rumble thru varex bimodal exhaust.. regarding upholstery it was done at melb auto upholstery, not a happy experience. They were slow and when I went to collect them they had not done the headrests, looked like crap. Back again a week later job finally finished. They charged me $4500.00 claiming one seat had been interfered with incurring an extra 8 hours labour charge. Bear in mind they only replaced the seating face of seats not a full recover. RIPPED OFF. Got the impression my job was not flash enough for them. Be warned.
Anth trevingle45_ WOW, I am speechless with upholstery cost!! Or I am completely out of touch.? They look great in the pics though.
Major Ledfoot Anth WOW, I am speechless with upholstery cost!! Or I am completely out of touch.? Not really. It comes down to the labour costs. If you can DIY insofar as the R&R of the seat skins, there's this option. https://www.lseat.com/products/2003-2014-volvo-xc90-custom-real-leather-seat-covers-front.html
trevingle45_ Bear in mind I removed and refitted the seats myself . To claim an Extra 8 hours labour for 1 seat is ridiculous. In my working life I was an industrial sewing machine mechanic, specialising in the leather trade. that is ridiculous. As to the finished result the job was reasonable, not better than any reasonably competent upholster could achieve. I chose then believing that they were high end practitioners only to find the only high end result was their price.
Ex850R trevingle45_ Go to google reviews of them and leave your thoughts. *When you google them there will be reviews there, add yours. It may garner a response from them, ask for your 8 hours labour cost back.....
Major Ledfoot trevingle45_ WOW, I'd believed that price was for Drive In Drive Out - you expect to pay big for DIDO jobs. Just as well the finished products look the goods.
Ex850R I spoke to an automotive trimmer that had on their web page previous jobs that were mostly Aussie hot cars and full interiors were done. I sent pix of the parts I wanted done in car, most everything except seats and the rough quote was way too much, I understand time for a good tradesman to work is money saved compared to cheaper and monkey doing the work you then spend more money on fixing....
trevingle45_ Yes you do want good results. However to charge an extra 8 hours for 1 seat is ludicrous. And yes they look OK but not to show standard as you would expect for that price.
