Lucky you could send back.
Gee I did well with mine then!

1185 is cheap if you now have car off the road and labour costs....
Plus Volvo give 2 year warranty...
Mark gets the best Volvo supplied prices too.....
Just wait till fuel pump/s go.....
It's a modern Euro car, parts ain't cheap. Buy genuine and your more than 10 years old complicated car will last another 10 years or more.

    Disappointing.
What a stich up!! Aftermarket guys simply do not make this pump for this car?
So the only way is to buy new from volvo 30776395 at exhorbitant price or remove it and get it repaired/ refurbished.
I will try refurbishing it and see what happens

      No good!
Mine is XC90V8, I'm surprised it is different.
Check the xc90v8 2006 code if same.

NO surprises here guaranteed. I can tell you 100% it is different!

If you have an S80 V8 with a 30776395 pump, the XC90V8 pump
Part 36000748 is which is identical to 36000267 WILL NOT FIT.
Volvo in there wisdom changed it for whatever reason???

The pressure port interface is a different size and the retaining bolt position
is much closer on the XC90V8 pump.

This has been a frustrating experience to say the least.
They FORCE you to spend the dough and buy new which is $1304 inc gst+ delivery
or try to refurbish it or find a second hand one.

Anyone got a second hand one? I am interested

I obtained pump for xc90v8 from rock auto for a lot less. Seems strange pump in sedan is different. The motorworld is a strange place.

          Yeah I know
          They are a MAVAL 96696M unit for $237 AUD + $68aud delivery.
Comes with a 2 year warranty like VOLVO . LOL

          Shame it wont fit .
Could have bought four of them for the same money . OMG

          Ex850R
          Yeah right!!
          Easier said than done
TBH I did look into it. Forget it , nightmare!

Can you swap out the hose for the one that suits this pump, or is that not a thing?

            jamesinc
            Nope, beyond our tech capabilities
my mate who is helping me with installing says opening a can of worms!
Pipes need to be custom made!!
            Nothing fits from xc90v8

Get a used one from Mark Iceton and build the old one , he probably has a rebuilder as well.
As he has two XC90V8s and i have one he will know for sure.

This experience has produced the following result.
Aftermarket manufacturers simply do not make a power steering pump for s80v8 !!

The only way to replace pump is to buy new from Volvo part 30776395 or get existing repaired/ refurbished.
The s80V8 and XC90V8 steering pumps are NOT compatible.
If you own a S80V8 be aware of it. DO NOT waste your time and money.

I am in the process of refurbishing original and see what happens!

            2 months later

Well its been almost two months of enjoying the S80 V8 and my power steering issues have come back!!

This car is just a great drive when all is well!! After a nice outing yesterday I noticed a familiar noise. Luckily was just around the corner from home. Santa has given me an early Xmas present :

Help is needed as my mate mechanic has done his back.

I am assuming it is the high pressure hose. Anyone can suggest part number or somewhere around Eastwood NSW that can possibly fix it soon? What is a reasonable cost to replace?

Are you asking if a new hose can be bought? yes, cost around $500.

Anth Pirtek may be able to make you a replacement, they're down in Rydalmere. You'll need to extract the old one and take it to them. If it has weird hardline bends you may just have to get a new one from Volvo.

It appears the hose on the right (Gates) is the leaking one to me.

Thanks Ramrod. Is the part new or reconditioned, assuming its the HP hose?

Can you supply and fit ? I would love to have the car for Xmas

You can PM if you prefer

jamesinc yes its definitely the right one (Gates). Leaking from the top. Not sure how long that would take to make and what issues it may have after installing. Advised they are temperamental. If Ramrod can supply Volvo maybe best to go that way.

I would love to enjoy the car over the holidays

Volvo OE hoses are hard to beat
