Today I was supposed to be off doing some other stuff, but the weather is ordinary, it's not particularly warm, so those plans were cancelled. This gave me a little more free time to get a few things done.
I dont have an 'real' parts to play with yet, largely as I dragged me feet with my rear shock absorber choice and couldnt quite make up my mind. Springs are due to arrive next week, my front Ohlins need to be rebuilt still.
So, I thought I'd dabble with some interior stuff.
I received the handbrake boot and console lid cover in the week. I need another plastic surround for the handbrake boot (will arrive next week), so cant start on that, so I figured I'd get the console lid done.
Here's what arrived from Redline Goods. Excuse the photo quality.
Handbrake boot is charcoal alcantara with teal stitching. Console lid cover has a charcoal leather top and charcoal alcantara sides, with teal stitching.
And this is the crap that I'm working with. Seriously, how the interior in this car is so disgusting is beyond me.
Nearly every piece of plastic I touch in this thing is broken or filthy beyond belief.
Here's a progress shot. I used Selleys Quick Grip Spray Adhesive to stick the cover to the console lid and 5 min epoxy (in my case, Araldite) to ensure the edges stay where they're supposed to and the skin is tight.
And now waiting to dry.
Fairly easy to do, just need to be patient. Mine isnt 100% perfect, but I'm not a motor trimmer by any means and I possibly dont quite have the patience for this sort of work.
You need LOTS of bulldog clips - I dont think I had enough.
The handbrake boot will be easy by comparison, but there's no way I'd do a steering wheel myself.
Quality of the stuff from Redline is very good and some fitment guides are available on their website for each model.
@Rob let me know if you want some higher res pics.
