On the inside of mine, there was definately nothing to clip them onto, so I tucked them aside around the little bin thing and coin holder.
Here's the differences in connectors - it just looks like one was superseded at some point by the other.
I pulled my loom and ODBII connector from the original and swapped it over.
Thinner style, as in my car -
And the thicker style, as per the donor console -
Console is now back in, sans handbrake boot and console lid - waiting on these to arrive from Redline.
@Ex850R , the woodgrain will come out of the back of the console, it simply clips into place.
Mine has been glued though - you might use a die grinder to get it off from the inside.
Lots of the trim lugs were broken off in mine too. It appears its been out before.
