The biggest advantage is that it drops IATs as it makes it harder for heat from the head/block to transfer across to the intake.
There are claims of better low-rpm pull, but I'd be skeptical with the thickness of the spacer.

Will provide some feedback once I've done it.

We went to Caffeine & Gasoline #2 in Geelong again this morning and met Julian and Miles there to do a quick parts exchange. No pics this time as I ran into heaps of people I knew and started (but didnt finish) conversations with most of them.

I still havent done the PCV service, intake manifold spacer or turbo return o ring but I will do when I have some time and I can put it up on the hoist.
A hoist spoils you and makes you delay anything at all that may see you crawling under a car, in favour of doing it later and being able to stand up under it.

Hilariously, last week on our 44 deg C wednesday, the repair I did to the lower dash on the drivers side and the lower dash cover melted and I had to have a bit of a rethink.
This time, I did a repair with some aluminium on the lower dash cover, so problem solved there.
However, where I'd bonded a aluminium plate with a slot in it into the lower dash (there wasnt much left to glue to), I couldnt use sikaflex (messy and simply difficult). Yesterday, I fibreglassed the aluminium plate back into place. It's not perfect but is neat enough.

With the car heading to its new home in the next couple of weeks, I've been getting through a couple of the outstanding things on the to-do list.

Yesterday I replaced a noisy/clunky, despite being 9k kms old, swaybar link, replaced the LHF door lock actuator and serviced it.

Going to do the oil drain with it on the hoist and do the intake spacer and pcv kit in the next week when I have a spare night or free day.

I'll miss it, for sure.

I found some generic ones on ebay that include grease fittings
A pump every oil change and the ones on the blue 850 I service are up to over 90k now

Grease nipples ones are best. I got Rockauto ones.

Nope, they're garbage.
This was a Meyle HD endlink - typically last a very long time, but this one decided it was time to call it quits very early.
It became noisy and had some rather ordinary feedback through the steering wheel.

Everything in the front end being so new made it pretty easy to diagnose.

The car goes to its new owner in a fortnight. :(

They may very well be better now - it could have been as simple as the production version of the kunckle/joint wasnt manufactured to the same spec/design as the spec they'd come up with.
Could be a failed attempt at cost reduction too.

Today we did most of the pcv kit - 'most' because it appears to have, in part, been replaced recently.
We pulled the manifold, so did the pcv box (probably not required), all of the smaller pipes/elbows and connectors and the Snabb intake spacer.

Spotted a slight fuel weep where the FPR fits into the rail so will find a new o ring for that before putting it back together.

Did the turbo oil drain with it up on the hoist - literally 3mins of work!

Once I've got the o ring, it'll be 10mins to get it back together and then it'll be ready to go to its new home next weekend.

Picked up an o ring for the FPR from my home parts-stash and, since I was in the mood, replaced all the injector o rings and the FPR o ring at the same time.
Put it back together and it's ready for its new owner to pick it up next weekend.

The only things left to do now are a quick engine bay wash and wash the outside and park it in the garage for the rest of the week.

Is there a comparison on how much better it would run with the intake spacer?

Not yet. I'll let you know in a couple of days though.

While i haven't driven the V70 much this week, the intake spacer didnt make a huge difference, though it didnt seem to feel as flat on the REALLY hot day we had earlier in the week - that could be placebo though.

Probably worth doing if you've got the manifold off (say for a PCV job) but maybe not otherwise.

I picked up Jared from Tullamarine airport this morning and he's driving the car back to Adelaide now.
