Just managed to crack 3000kms on the thing last night - 3000kms in 18 months!
Admittedly, it only got registered in June.

Anyway, engine wash done, leather cleaned, it just needs a wash now, give everything one last little check, remove the child seat and I'm right to throw everything in it and be on my way in the morning.

I've just racked up a little over 5500kms in the V70 and aside from the stereo pooing it's pants (cd jammed in the cartridge and cartridge won't eject, nothing plays) in the Sunday of the ozvolvo meet, it's been awesome.
The drive to Gerringong (via Sydney) and home (via Canberra) covered a bit over 2100kms in four days.

Thanks to @Ghettobird, I grabbed a replacement head unit at FNH last night and swapped the dead SC-900 for a working SC-901 this morning.

The 3 disc alpine units are highly known to do that
Both in volvo and Toyota

I'd read it isn't an uncommon occurance. It's a very complicated and overly mechanical method of loading. Add wear and tear to that and age and it makes sense that it'd fail.

Just a bit of dust removal and Lube in the right places and they generally are good for another 5 years

Thanks for the offer mate, but I'm sorted now with the SC-901 in the car and once this car is gone I probably won't have another P80 car for a while.

Maybe the SC-900 is more prone to it than the SC-901.
The SC-901 certainly loads faster and isn't as noisy doing so.

Today is aircon day!
Hanging out with the crew at Berrys while the V70 gets re-gassed and sealed.

I'm not sure when it stopped working. It worked when I got the car, but the car sat for quite a while and did nothing. On the way back from Gerringong, it only barely made air temp cooler than ambient.

Anyway, I now have working aircon again! Yay! This is a very good thing on a near 30 deg day with no tinted windows and charcoal interior!

On top of that, I've done a little more tidying up - when we fitted the towbar a few months back I was in a bit of a rush so used the nuts, bolts and washers that I had and didnt have big flat washers on a couple of the chassis rail bolts. It hasnt mattered as I've done no towing at all (the tongue has never been fitted to the bar), but it's annoyed me. So, thats done now too.

Did you replace all the seals when you re gassed it?

Nope. No need, but put a sealing additive in it as a precaution.

Amongst a few other things, this weekend I did the MSD coil swap.
It idles better and pulls a little harder from low rpm which is as expected and the same experience I'd had when I did the same thing on my 850T5 years ago.

I've also now got an oil leak out of the camshaft seal I hadn't got around to changing yet, so will get that sorted out in the next week or so when I have a chance and might do a PCV kit and fit the intake spacer at the same time.

My bro in-law has a little CNC machine he is just putting g together , I think I will give him a project to make me one!

I did contemplate making them, but the one I have is just an off-the-shelf one.
I decided there wasn't enough demand to do a production run of our own. I bought mine as one of those 'Well, I'm going to have it apart anyway, so I may as well fit....' type of scenarios.

I did the distributor-cam ('distributor' is a bit of a stretch! lol) seal last night. I'd never ever actually replaced one before and was a little concerned about getting the thing out.
Surprisingly it was easy and left me wondering what else I was going to do for the night!

I'll give it an engine bay wash tonight and check for any further leaks/weeps.

PCV kit and instake spacer are my christmas break tasks and I might even give it a service too.
