We got a few little things off the to-do list this weekend -
* Spark Plugs
* Plug leads
* Lower control arms
We also got the final test-fitting done with our 320mm brake conversion, I'd originally intended for this to simply be a last fit-up to get the documentation side of things under control and finished off.
I worked with a another mate today, who also has a heap of speedway and v8supercar experience and we managed to make an unexpected change to the design I'd already finalised - this has turned out to be a good thing though.
The design I had (thankfully I hadnt got all the coating done yet) was probably a bit too 'elegant'. The bracket we used today was to be the one to be sent for coating and would have been our 'production' bracket.
Instead we simplified it a little - fear not, it is still quite pretty! (Thanks to a fresh set of eyes)
They key difference is that it can be laser cut instead of CNCed. This, for us, is much more cost effective and will drastically reduce the sale price (if you have questions about buying the bracket, please contact me via email - this thread isnt intended to be a sales pitch).
Please excuse the calipers - these are the mock-up set that have been on and off things about a thousand times.
I have a nice (not painted red) set which will go on later.
Here is the regular 280mm rotor (R) against a 320mm rotor (L) -
And the rotor mounted -
And the caliper mounted -
I would have liked to have left them on the car, but I'm still waiting on wheel bolts so that I can fit the 17" wheels and I'd like to use the production set of brackets, coated and looking pretty.
I'm a bit happier with this weekends progress too as I haven't spent much time on it lately.
