A decent manufacturer should be able to provide you with testing documentation and certify their product.
In a high-vibration, constantly moving automotive environment you'd typically see fatigue around the mounting brackets or where the necks are welded on if you're going to see it anywhere.

With a lot of the sprintcar, speedcar and F500 stuff that I see - a lot of those guys are either using PWR stuff or other popular brands brands brought in from the US. Typically these dont fatigue despite some very rigid mounting, usually they're crash damaged or a rock/lump of clay goes through them before there is any chance of fatigue.

Again, I'll stress, anything you might bring in from china isn't 'bad' and may very well be an improvement over a 16 year old standard one, or even a new standard one. However, you have no way of being certain on this unless they're prepared to provide you some data.
You'd be interested in efficiency (drop in IAT vs stock) and pressure testing data.

I've even thought, for mine, about buying my own core and making up my own tanks.
That'd likely be a bit costly for me from a time point of view

Tonight, I put some time aside and fitted the Snabb intake pipe kit.
My turbo to MAF plastic corrugated pipe had a split in it, so needed to be replaced anyway.

Fitment was ok, but the location of the welded in bungs in the tube was different to the pictured product and certainly different to the location of where lines went into the original plastic pipework.

I haven't driven it yet - will take it for a quick drive tomorrow.
I went with black couplers as I wanted it to be as unobtrusive as possible and I'm probably just plain boring with my choice of black, charcoal, grey colours, etc.

bahahaha. I have a new coolant bottle, cap and thermostat waiting to go in.
I'm going to fit a new radiator, hoses and probably intercooler at the same time so I'll get that done in one hit.

PCV was supposed to have been done when the PO did the reco auto about 2 years ago. judging by a couple of the elbows, I'm not convinced.

I have a intercooler from a 15L isuzu which leaked at the sides and was a recall.

Alex's option sounds better , the big one is in Warrnambool , behind truck mechanics the missus brother used yo have his truck parts business next to / part of which are his mates.

I drove the car tonight after the intake pipe swap.
A little more intake and turbo noise, but not a great deal and not really a noticeable difference measurable on the arse-dyno.
I'm not unhappy about having fitted it though. the original corrugated plastic one needed replacing and it may very well have a more tangible benefit with the rest of the intercooler stuff done.

Ohlins shock shaft thread is different to Bilstein, Koni and Sachs/Volvo so this morning ive been cruising around the place chasing fasteners. It was surprisingly easy though and I managed to even find some half-nuts to use in place of the normal star/cross nuts.
The only annoyance though is that I'd purchased new volvo fasteners which I can't use. Lol.

Anyway, im getting a couple of tyres fitted at the moment so I can get my act together and fit and put some kms on this brake conversion.

last night I repaired both left side interior door trims and replaced window switches.
LR door trim is less than perfect but will be ok until a decent one comes along.

Hey Ash , what was the Öhlins rebuild , did they use any special oil or bits?
Can we have a picture of the BBK yet too?
I have two brand new lhf charcoal door trims .....pity not rear.

Rebuild isnt done yet. Still chasing a couple of seals. Regarding the oil - not sure but can find out.
Matty and Brendan build a lot of speedway and V8Supercar shocks, (mainly development series as the main game teams typically do theirs in house) so have a heap of experience. Construction wise, while they're a very well built shock, there isn't really anything in them that isn't in a Bilstein. I dont think the oil is specific to Ohlins.

I'll probably go and help/watch during the reassembly process.

You can have pics soon of the BBK. I'll post lots. They're not on the car yet as I didn't have a wheel (with tyre) that would clear the brakes until this morning.

I'm hoping to do the fit-up on Sunday (assuming hoist is free) on the hoist as it'll give me a chance to take some decent photos from various angles, and we can do it whilst standing up and chatting. :)

I'm still not 100% convinced with brake line choice, but will finalise that on Sunday too.
P80 (302mm brakes) lines will work, so do the Focus/C30/S40/V50 320mm (320mm brakes) I just want to see what length is like at full lock (both L and R) at both full suspension droop and full suspension compression.
At that point, I'll make a call and recommend one or the other (or maybe both) to use.

I have the front rotors back from machining for my car (as well as some stock/customer sets).
Easy job, centrebore of the Focus/C30/S40/V50 320mm needs to be machined out to 68mm.
We will supply rotors already machined if required or anyone can get a machine shop to do it for them.

I wont need to do many kms on the brake setup once it is on my car. We've done a heap during our previous testing. We have also confirmed that the new place doing machining is using the same materials (likely from the same supplier) to machine them from as our original one was using, so don't need to go through the same processes again that we'd already been through.

I've also made up my mind regarding finishing/coating, so will send the remaining bare ones off shortly to be done.
Once that is done and I've discussed things a bit more with the machinists, I'll have final pricing set.

A little more progress on the seals for the shocks today.
The supplier that they're being sourced from hasn't been particularly helpful but we may have some part numbers they can make use of. Hopefully that'll be enough to make some progress.

Originally, I was going to do suspension and then do the brakes and get all the remaining work done on them, but I'm getting a little over the delays so will just get the brakes on the car and then get the front end done later - it wont hurt and will help me clear some things off the business to-do list.

I'll use new XC90 ones. They supercede the 850/x70 ones now if you buy them new now too.

Where the feek did you find them, they were an option on the 850's over here but never seen a set in person in a decade, smart bit of kit you could make enough out of them to buy a lovely coilover set :)

They are nice , I had the chance to get a set that were off a smashed C70 years ago but one leg had damage to the lower mount which made the whole thing suspect...
The thing is , they are only worth a dollar to someone that knows what they are and is willing to pay . Over here peeps like that are far and few between. Plus you can get better new technology

Yep I agree but for that original classic look people over here pay big money, I saw a set of polaris rims go for 2000 euros (3000 oz dollars ish) on Germany eBay ffs lol

Hey Ash , may be a market for fake remote reservoirs and a bit of braided staino brake line to a screw on strut cap !!
Might look at bike wreckers for some!
