turbo control valve

`Yeah , thats why i said just buy one from Festo.[/quote]

Festo would no doubt have something that would work, as do these guys -

Pneumatic Solutions even have the MAC products too which is what AEM, IPD, ARD and PumaSpeed (and us - we sell PumaSpeed products) sell as their own product with a suitable connector fitted -

Glue a DVS sticker over the Festo and off ye go!
Turbo control valve? Is that the official name?
It's just a boost controller right? Does the stock one release early or is it more to do with fooling the ecu into letting the car have more boost?

I've never heard of mac and I work on pneumatics on trucks. Smc and festo yes.
It can simply work at higher pressures and is not as cheap as the stock one
Electric/pneumatics boost control...
The old one wears so any new one is better.

Exactly right. I think of it more of a 'maintenance upgrade' rather than a 'performance upgrade'

I've now racked up just over 2800kms in it, all trouble free so I'm fairly happy that it's reliable and isn't planning any surprises for me.
Hopefully tonight, I'll get to pop it up on the hoist and check over everything before the big trip to Gerringong and back next week.

I've had a little bit of time this week to get a couple of things done.

We had the car up on the hoist again for a quick checkover. Everything looks fine aside from a tiny weep from the turbo drain o ring - I'll replace it when I'm back from the Gerringong meet.

The PumaSpeed/MAC TCV is fitted. The difference between it and the stock one is enormous. The car is more responsive and WAY better to drive.

I mounted mine on the airbox base using a pre-existing boss and a quick bracket I knocked together.
The TCV is bolted, double-sided taped and cable-tied to the bracket. Seriously, it isn't coming off! -

And mounted in the car -

I used black Proflow 400R series, 250psi rated, 1/4" ID, line. It looks stock and doesnt appear out of place in the engine bay. I don't really like bright coloured silicone hose and couldn't get my hands on any black silicone hose with minimal notice. This will be more than sufficient.

Please excuse my non flush-cut cable ties.

Once the airbox lid and ducting is back on, you can't even tell it's there -

On top of that, my wheel is finally fitted -

The alcantara takes some getting used to. I've never driven a car with an alcantara wheel without gloves on before, but it does feel good and finishes off the interior nicely.

Looking at the car in the light, I'd like to get the RH side painted too as there are a few scratches and blemishes I don't like, particularly as the LH (which required all the work) is near perfect.
It's unlikely this will get done. For a 17 year old car, it is very good though.

I've been deferring over to using nice cotton braided vac line for this sort of application just because of the resistance to abrasion
Thats not a bad idea. I'm sure something is available online.
The hoses on mine were original and were quite brittle, so they've done well. I'm confident these will last fine, but I didnt have many alternatives immediately available - I typically like to go through and look at/feel things before I choose something.

Not much to do before Friday now, a quick engine bay clean and a wash on Thursday night and I'm good to go.
Friday's drive is going to be a monster, so it'll be an effort this week to see if I can get some early nights.
Just managed to crack 3000kms on the thing last night - 3000kms in 18 months!
Admittedly, it only got registered in June.

Anyway, engine wash done, leather cleaned, it just needs a wash now, give everything one last little check, remove the child seat and I'm right to throw everything in it and be on my way in the morning.

I've just racked up a little over 5500kms in the V70 and aside from the stereo pooing it's pants (cd jammed in the cartridge and cartridge won't eject, nothing plays) in the Sunday of the ozvolvo meet, it's been awesome.
The drive to Gerringong (via Sydney) and home (via Canberra) covered a bit over 2100kms in four days.

Thanks to @Ghettobird, I grabbed a replacement head unit at FNH last night and swapped the dead SC-900 for a working SC-901 this morning.
The 3 disc alpine units are highly known to do that
Both in volvo and Toyota
I'd read it isn't an uncommon occurance. It's a very complicated and overly mechanical method of loading. Add wear and tear to that and age and it makes sense that it'd fail.
If you want to send it my way I'd be happy to fix it for you for a 6 pack
I've done hundreds of them
Just a bit of dust removal and Lube in the right places and they generally are good for another 5 years
I've got two SC-900's on the shelf with the same issue doing nothing..
