I rewired the battery. Big improvement in voltage with the fan on.

This also reverses the terminal positions, as I didn't like having positive so close to the fender.

Well this took forever to sort out. Coolant bracket finally arrived courtesy @Rob. Had to cut up and bend some bracketry but made a vice mount for it and now it doesn't foul the hose and isn't held on by cable ties

I was rummaging around the garage today and found an LH-2.4 MAF. I swapped it in and reset the ECU, and it fired right up and ran nicely.

Still blows my mind that the 2.2 MAF worked at all. There you go guys, in a pinch, or for 18 months straight, a 2.2 MAF will get the job done.

In other news, there's heaps of sill rust. I'm going to cut it all out over Easter I think.

Welp, now the car won't run at all. Fuel pressure is okay, spark is okay, injectors are firing, it just misfires and blows smoke.

The bores are worn, badly. This is still the motor I originally got from @nickm years ago, (@Slowbrick you may remember helping me load it into the back of Amy, and then it leaked some oil which happened to drip through the boot floor straight onto the exhaust pipe and made us think Amy was blowing oil).

I was digging around the garage, and what do you know, I have a full set of B230FT 2nd overbore pistons, crank and big end bearing sets, and a full B230 gasket and seal kit, and a TD04-15g.

The hardest part will be getting the car up the driveway. I think I'll flat tow it most of the way up then get all the able bodied people I know to help me maneuver it the rest of the way into the garage.

The block should be reusable. I'll have both surfaces skimmed but I don't want to fiddle around too much, the car mostly needs to just work and not be laid up for a month

This one shouldn't be a shit block... It's a nice FT block. 13mm rods, rear thrust bearing, just the bore is worn. I already have the pistons, it's $280 for the overbore and I'll have it hot tanked and the freeze plugs changed out while I'm at it, so should come up quite the tidy motor.

Can I also add that the Volvo GCP genuine strut tops I bought are already separating around the inner collar after less than a year of service. I'm tempted to just fill it with something

@Vee_Que okay I'll bite, can I dial in squish using stock head gasket with 2nd overbore bores? Presumably I ask the machine shop to surface the deck so pistons run proud by some amount?

Yeah that also happened to me. They came in a blue box and everything. I ended up getting junkyard ones and calling it a day.

@Slowbrick as they're less than 12 months old, I've contacted them about warranty claim.

If it happens again I think I'll just get Kaplhenke strut tops.
