This is where I fitted the vacuum pump on my 87 240, I modified a bracket from an 850(the 850 pump is the same as 240 and 7/9 series). The hole was already there too.
I'd be interested to see some pics of your setup, I have the 740 system on mine, with the vacuum actuator on the throttle spool. I fitted 90% of it but never had any pedal switch brackets, so never fitted pedal switches. and also discovered the wiring on the early Australian cruise stalks is different to what the later computer uses, so I need to get a US stalk to use with it.
