I remember vaguely someone on TB mentioning that depending on the car that using the coil switched power didnt quite work "right". I tied my switched power to the blue wire coming out of the ignition switch. I think its pin number 15 or something.
This is what you need:

Thx, that actually answers other questions I had about the cluster wiring too

Okay everything is done, wired up, working.
The idle is still pretty bad. It runs up to OT and then keeps going a couple minutes before dropping out. Struggle street. I checked the timing belt and it seems okay - however I have a proven track record of getting belts out by a tooth. It's too rough even for 280 degrees duration.
I've been doing the usual LH debugging, d/c AMM, d/c ECT, neither seem to help much.

I think the fact that when it was running it was struggling to make enough power to go up the driveway suggests timing too. I'll run a compression test in the morning also.
jamesinc
Oh also very low manifold vacuum at idle. I had a look for vac leaks but nothing as yet.

Was going to say the cam is not that wild. Close to upper end of factory nowhere near a race cam.
A proper race cam is a pig to drive in city traffic.
Think what signals both ECUs want to see at idle. I'm suspecting a sensor is not giving the correct info
jamesinc
I think it either has to be timing or an injector-related issue at this point. Brendan is going to take a look tonight, I think a fresh set of eyes will probably spot the issue.

Oh on a related note, the one drive I managed to get out of it, up and down my street, the gearbox shifted like a champ. Loving that accumulator mod already.

Update: the car is now running and driving! I still need to get some better clamps for the exhaust, but once it's all secured properly I'll get a proper exhaust made up for it.
jamesinc
I've been driving the car around. It runs a bit rough and seems to run worse once everything gets hot. Also runs well rich, especially at idle. I'm going to do a full rubdown of values at the ECU plug shortly.
jamesinc
Okay it wouldn't be an LH conversion without a shitty AMM in the mix. Swapped it with my spare and now it's tip top. Car is now driving exactly how I'd expect it to.
All that's left now is to make the pod legal and have an exhaust made up.

At pickies yesterday we found a suitably small windscreen washer reservoir from a Fairlane. The one I took was from a wagon, so it has two pumps in it. I'm plumbing them inline so that the second can be fired from a switch to increase pressure and fire water at tailgaters on the highway.
Otherwise, @powder_hound went scouring the JY for some nice seats for the 240, and found an S40 with dark grey leather seats in really good condition, so we bought them for $85 each. I wish I had a photo of my walking through the JY carrying both of them.

No metion of a fixed exhaust?
jamesinc
Also thanks to @Philia_Bear at Tentacle Industries for the help with welding up my exhaust joiny bit and patching a hole. Exhaust is now leak free, woo!

Well I now have the new washer bottle jets hooked up, so the only issue that remains is non-functional speedo. I've done as much testing as I can with a multimeter, unfortunately the speedo is annoying to test as you need to drive around (or put the rear on stands) to test the speed.
I'm gonna go get a 12V AC power brick from Jaycar tomorrow and pin that into the harness at the sender. That will allow me to test components more easily, as per
this method.

Just realised the god damn all parks pass was on the old windscreen.

So now there's two things left. One is to get the rack rebuilt as it's leaking a bit from the seals, the other is to replace the towbar with one of the more flush OE towbars. As it is now, the towbar fouls on the exhaust tip when the exhaust shakes a lot (mostly when starting the car).

What exhaust is it running now?

2.5" turbo back. 100-cell cat, hot dog, and Lucas chambered muffler.
