@powder_hound's old mate TRW rack is leaking. Slow leak from the driver's side. Doesn't seem to coming out of the boots, which is good, because it hopefully means the piston is tip top, so maybe from the pinion seal or maybe just one of the banjos is leaking. I cleaned it up but still can't see the leak. Will have to get under the car on the weekend and have a proper look around.

I did have to bend the flange pipe. It kinked it a little bit but I don't think it's enough that there's any need for concern. I did have to flatten out the flange afterwards though, that's the only thing I'm paranoid about - that the flange isn't perfectly true and oil will leak.

Use a bit of sand paper and a block on the flange. Would will soon see if its flat or not.

I used a square to see, but that's probably a better idea.

Or a good flat file , run it sideways on differing angles , it will show high spots , use chalk on flange before filing.

For the e-fan, I have the adapter and the thermoswitch (87 on 79 off) now. This means the parts hoarding is complete. I just need to pop down to Jaycar and get some wire and a 40A inline fuse and we're good to install. Will probably install this before doing the turbo swap to just confirm it's going to work, as once I do the turbo swap it won't be possible to simply re-attach the clutch fan.

A wide belt linisher on a good bench grinder (kits available to put on the rhs) is good for facing off parts up to oooh , 3" , at worst , a 9" grinder with a cutting disc provides a 2" flat surface , just make sure you hold it REALLY well or put the head in a vice....

The 87 on is about right but the 79 off is probably a bit low. The fan will stay on a lot and you will probably see the temp gauge needle visually move up and down as it cycles through that range.

The grinder idea is good, I hadn't thought of that.

I'll run it and see how I go. I think I'll wire half speed to the thermoswitch and full speed to a cabin switch.

The grinder idea is good, I hadn't thought of that.

Cut off wheel seems to work better than a new grinding disc , suck it and see.
Always double eye protection , full face plus double ear as well , plugs and muffs . Sound gets in via the bones too , a full hood does wonders.
