Hi All,

I've had a few motorcycles in my time living in Aus since 2011.

The passion all kicked off with this little CT110 postie bike:

Then moved onto something a little more serious:

Then moved away from the naked bikes, would love to own another again sometime soon...

next weapon was:

Followed by my 2 current bikes:

Last track snaps at Phillip Island were doing the California Superbike School Level 2 & 3

My next bike that i would like is the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO

Enjoy the snaps :-)

Honda CBR250RR - MC22

Had it for a couple years, moved it on as I hardly had time to ride it, and didn't really have the space for it, you can see it lived on the rear patio

Terrible photo, but this is El Wifeo on her way to an organised ride, with her, my, and The Girl’s dirt bikes on the trailer.

Are there only plastic bikes still running down there??? At least there was one non-Japanese marque represented, if only in modern guise.

In order of importance, from 1975 to 2012:

Ducati 750GT

Ducati 750 Sport

Ducati 350 Mk.III

Ducati 450 Jupiter

Triumph Bonneville

and not a single starter button to be found in the lot.

Now we're talking! Beautiful piece of history, and you've done an awesome job, sir. My hat's off to you!

Not far from here, in this quiet little rural province where I reside, is an ex-pat American with a barn full of 30+ Vincents, almost all in running condition, including a number of rare singles. He brings them out on display every summer at the annual classic car show. He said he started buying them back in the 60's when they were just used bikes. because he couldn't afford to get Knucklhead Harleys, and these were cheaper! Oh how times have changed.

You are now officially King of this Thread.

Ok , anyone out there got a Brough Superior

Preferably, a Brough Superior SS 100 Alpine Grand Sport. Any colour will be fine.

A lot of times at busy petrol stations I'd stop for petrol at in the 80s (2 stroke, use the juice....) old guy would wander over and talk about......his Vincent Black Shadow , two or three times , others not so salubrious.

I've got video copy somewhere of missus uncle who raced at Tower Hill Reserve between Warrnambool and Port Fairy , it's collapsed volcano hills providing a great dirt track for the bikes in the 50s.

Coming back to this thread to share my new toy.

I've wanted a late Aprilia RSV1000R (preferably an RSV1000R Factory) for a little while and it had to be the last iteration before they moved to the RSV4, ie the very late Rotax twin rather than the newer V4.

This meant that it needed to be 2006-early 2010.

So, a couple of weeks back, a mate contacted me and mentioned that his nephew had just got his bike learners permit and asked if I might be keen on selling my 2014 Honda CBR1500R. I'd really planned on moving it on late this year or maybe early next but a painless sale to someone I know and not having random people coming to my house was pretty appealling. So, a price was negotiated, I organised a RWC and then i no longer had a bike.

I'd already been researching and looking at them and had a look at one before easter, at a dealer, so didnt mind going in and kicking tyres to have a proper look, have a sit on it, etc. The one at the dealer was a reasonable example, but at that point in time, I wasnt ready to hand over any cash.

With the Honda gone, I had a look at one last weekend. The one I looked at had been on Bikesales for a while and had been slowly coming down in price in recent months. The seller was genuine, the bike was the best example I've seen in the flesh, we did some polite negotiation and I handed over a deposit.

It isnt perfect but it is very good and I'll deal with the small cosmetic issues as I get to them (and once my bank account recovers).

So, I've ended up with this.... It's a 2006 Aprilia RSV1000R (but not a Factory).

The RSV1000R Factory gets more carbon parts, an Ohlins rear shock and forged OZ wheels.

The non Factory version is still very well spec'd, it has Ohlins forks but a Sachs rear shock. It gets aluminium wheels and no fancy carbon stuff.

If you're curious, full specs are here -

I bet that April is V4 sounds good , I had to sell my VF1000R as the knees are no longer able to tuck up under my arms when riding ?

But I did manage to buy a nice XC60 with the money.

Enjoy the ride Ash , more photos and a video with sound please

      I'll mms you some video/audio soon. :)

This one is pretty stock, complete with stock pipes so not super-angry sounding but still quite nice.

Nice , always liked em, wondered how long it would take for you to get to this!!!

      I lusted after VFR750R , also RC30 , Pratt and Osborne had one in the front window.... ( 250LC $1499 , 350 1599 RC30 around $25K??)

The RC30 and later are now worh A LOT and also sound great but you know what

My LC250 and 350 Yamaha are now worth a lot as they were GIANT KILLERS , the 350LC Yamaha 2 stroke killed 750 four bikes in the day.

I always thought i was Eddie Lawson on my rides of the GO Road back in the 90s , no way in hell i could ride what i had properly yet i had all th fun in the world.

What i rexkon i bring from this ( and the guys that lament selling their Yamaha RD250/350LC 2 stroke bikes ) is , dont sell them , ride them fully........

Mate had 250LC , wore wetsuit under leathers for GO RD rides , extra paddinf when he dropped it.

Honda shop in Moorabool St son raced Honda , friday evening if he came by P&O shop he was on back wheel of VF750 giving us two fingers and he was wearing mockasins and trackey dax....

Use your ride to the full.

I still lust after my old 350 LC loved that bike even over the 500 . The 500 was just an animal ?

Yeah, I'm getting older, I'm a more sensible in my old age and I dont often make selfish purchases so I figured I'd just get it.

Age is a transition , from a rebel without a clue to a rebel with a clue , enjoy it while you can ??

52 yesterday and still think I'm 21 sometimes but the body says no no no ?

Ye age sucks , going into hospital 23rd August getting both knees total replacement, years of industrial fitting and early arthritis.

But need to get back out on the bikes again , so decided to retire early as well
