No problem. Its free to anyone who wants it - I'm keen on having a clean up and getting rid of a few things I'm not going to use.
Spoiler is Silver, so you'd need to get it painted. Drop me a PM if you're interested in it.
Not uncommon to only need one done. Mine looks to have had LHS driveshaft and wheel bearing done at some point but not the RHS. RHS boots are split but the shaft itself looks fine.
I'll fit a boot kit, repack and all good.
Undo the nut with a VERY big breaker bar and swing off it or a BIG rattle gun.
Might help to soak it first with Penetrene or Inox or something similar.
Ah cool, well Ill see, Im gonna see if I can convert the Mazda clips onto the Volvo. Never had any problems with my Mazda door clips :P
Ah I see. How much is it to even get things painted these days? I always think its going to be heaps but then people seem to get it done all the time so it can't be that bad... But it would look awkward. My V70s paint is so crazed on the bonnet, and the rest of its pretty scratched up. Kind of suits the intended purpose as the "work and uni car that I don't care about cosmetically"
clinton;27441 wroteGet a 4ft steel pipe from Bunnings and a breaker bar to undo the nut. If I were you I would also have a spare nut handy. I have done 4 driveshafts on these cars, and two were "glued" into the hub. I had to belt the crap out of them, and I sacrificed the nut to save the threads. The other two basically fell into my hand, and this was on two different cars!
Ive got a breaker bar, not a 4 ft one but a breaker bar nethertheless. We have hired an electric impact drill, I think it is essentially a rattle gun, we'll see I guess. Between the 850 and the V70 I have four nuts. I don't care if the 850 isn't assembled properly. Hell I kind of threw the suspension back in and now it sways like a yacht in Bass Straight.... I didn't connect the stabiliser lmao!
Eh, Im pretty sure both have seen better days, just gonna replace both from the 850s which look very new indeed... The owner wasn't lying when she said it had been well maintained, just not the oil......
Anyway, Ill let yas know how I go tomorrow!
Oh also, Ive been letting the car idle in my driveway for ages yesterday and today to keep the battery charge, and it idles a little rough, smells a little rich and sort of sounds like its been ran by a carby. It doesn't stall or anything, just doesnt idle as nice as the XC... or even the 850 for that matter. It is due for a service but if there are any sort of engine parts I should remove from the 850 please say so. Im thinking the dizzy is the first go, the one on the 850 looks fresh, the V70.... not so much....
