IMHO leave it stock
Spend mod money on cruiser or 244
You can get away with 2 inch lift on a Disco, any more and you start getting issues.
Even with 2" you're still better off getting caster correction.
Well the stock springs are badly sagged, especially the front. And it needs new shocks all round too. It's very easy to hit the front bump stops, and more clearance would be a good thing too.

If repairs are required.... I still can't imagine a lift being cheaper than stock parts?
Aftermarket springs and shocks are much more common for a 2" lift than standard, so yes it would make more sense to put a lift in.
Jon's Disco with a 2" lift and 235/85R16 tyres looks like the height you'd expect from the factory, it certainly doesn't look lifted. They do lack clearance in stock form.

How much clearance do you really need just to go to work and the shops?
A mate and I went for a bit of a drive the other weekend, and both the Disco and his 79 got stuck on the same hill. A bit more clearance and a rear locker would've helped the Disco a lot. Also the creek crossing was a bit high for comfort without a snorkel.
Current progress. Old manifold gasket had blown out on the #1 exhaust port, and had also split into 3 pieces.
Waiting for some M12x1.5 fittings to use the port at the back of the intake manifold for the boost gauge. The factory EGR blockoff plate has been drilled and tapped to 1/8NPT for the pyrometer probe.
*Boss still has a Disco diesel engine sitting in a shell he wrecked for the front parts. Thinks it looks like reco head, was quiet when running.
Located Broadford Victoria.

I'd possibly be interested if it's a later 300Tdi with the updated timing cover, but getting it from Vic would be a hassle.
Brand new cylinder heads are available if I do need one, and this engine still runs very well. If I did buy a spare engine it'd probably end up looking for a Series 2A/3 109 to put it in.
After much hassle, I found the correct combination of banjo bolt and fittings, and finished assembly. A couple of things aren't quite as neat as I'd like, but I've done around 1000km so far with no issues.
I admit I like the new tyres...

Are they still considered new after a year?

It's less than 5% the age of the vehicle... so yes
You might've noticed in the last photo, the driver's window was up. That's because it won't roll down.
About a week later, I got around to replacing the brake booster. On that same day, the passenger front window got stuck down. I've managed to get it rolled up, but the regulator is bent.
I've ordered 2 new regulators and a full set of brass rollers to fit into them. The plan is to also replace the lock springs and door speakers at the same time.
Both regulators upgraded with brass rollers, which involves grinding off the rivets and welding them back on. Now both fitted and working. Also pulled the drivers door lock mechanism all apart and replaced the broken spring, so the door now opens without holding up the button or using the key.
